2003 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class CLK320 2dr Cabriolet (3.2L 6cyl 5A)

Review

The Mercedes CLK Cabriolet is certainly
one of the classier, good looking and
eye-catching cars on the road. It is
also one of the best values. With
Mercedes high quality engineering and
most of the amenities you could want it
is a great car and a great buy. It's
not cheap but it rides and sells with
reliability. It's pretty close to
perfect, but not quite there- no rear
cup holders and an unsightly radio
antenna.

Best Features

Great lines; great performance; Boise stereo; heated seats are HOT.

Worst Features

Better Data Center; hidden radio antenna; fold down rear seat; rear cup holders and window controls; easier access seat belts.

2003 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class CLK430 2dr Cabriolet (4.3L 8cyl 5A)

Review

We fully expected a good car. We got a
great one. Its fun to drive, has a lot
of "curb appeal" and, as an unexpected
plus-gas milage is great. And we don't
know how the top could be easier to
operate. Overall it makes driving an
adventure.

Best Features

The perfectly engineered top, excellent gas milage, and overall looks.

Worst Features

Visibility, in the right rear quadrant is poor.

2003 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class CLK500 2dr Coupe (5.0L 8cyl 5A)

Review

I traded a beloved BMW-540i for this car and
have not had a moment's regret. I love the
handling, tight chassis, ergomonics in the
cabin, but most of all the smooth power the
V-8 pours out on command. Everything is
refined about this car, even in the way it
delivers almost unlimited power.

Best Features

No "B" column, and this wonderful Seattle summer that has allowed me to drive my hardtop coupe with the windows down.

Worst Features

The cruise control stalk is on the same side as the turn signals, and it's easy to confuse one for the other. It would have been better placed on the right of the steering column.

2003 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class CLK500 2dr Coupe (5.0L 8cyl 5A)

Review

This car is my first Mercedes -- I was
checking into purchasing an SLK and was
told of the waiting list.... I was
about to leave the dealership when I
noticed that a new car had been wheeled
into the showroom. I liked the way it
looked, test drove it and bought it a
few minutes later.

It has sufficient acceleration at
highway speeds, it has style, and it
is easy to drive. After spending a
year driving this car daily, my wife's
Lexus feels like a collection of parts
travelling in roughly the same
direction. <g>

Best Features

The navagation control -- I thought I wouldn't use it at first. It turns out it is a great way to explore new roads whether in town or going down country backroads!

Worst Features

Needs a second cup holder. The automatic rain sensor gets a little wild at times. I've learned to control it by waiting until the window is wet enough before turning it on. Also, if you leave it on after the rain stops it can really startle you a few hours later....

2003 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class CLK500 2dr Coupe (5.0L 8cyl 5A)

Review

This car was a huge surprise for me.
I went with a friend to get another
model, and I came out with an MB and
my friend didn't. Awesome power,
comfortable ride, amazing looks, and
just a sweet ride all around.

Best Features

The engine. Lots of power. The ride is surprisingly smooth. And it is definitely a looker.

Worst Features

Improve the lazy transmission, which always seems to be downshifting at the wrong time. And make the gas tank bigger. 16 gallons at 16 mpg is pretty dreadful.
