Very disappointed in gas mileage
By Jeff Thomas on

2005 Mazda Tribute i Fwd 4dr SUV (2.3L 4cyl 5M)

Great car, I love almost everything about it, except the gas mileage. I chose the Tribute primarily because of the EPA estimate of 29 mpg hwy, but, even though I drive 95% hwy, and at normal speeds, the best I've gotten (after 3500 mi) is 23 mpg, usually about 21.5. Other than that, I love it, but would like to know what is wrong.

Best Features

Combo of FWD and high ground clearance make it a great snow vehicle. I haven't missed 4X yet. Roomy (I'm 6'6"), smooth ride, manual makes it feel sporty, good pick-up for a 4 cyl.

Worst Features

More accurate rating of gas mileage. I wouldn't have bought it if I knew I'd only get 22 mpg. Make tailgate that folds down with power rear window.
