2004 Mazda MX-5 Miata LS 2dr Roadster (1.8L 4cyl 5M)

Review

Wow. I thought the "fun drive" thing
was hype, but I was wrong. A real joy
to drive. I drove them all, Porche
Boxster, Audi TT, Nissan 300, BMW Z-4.
Thought I was going to get the Z-4
until I drove the Miata....AND I can
get my golf clubs in the trunks - NO
OTHER CONVERTIBLE COULD DO THIS - and
its about 60% of the price of the Z-4.

Best Features

Handling, cornering, "feel". The six speed is worth it. The Bose stereo with speed variable sound volume is great

Worst Features

Nothing serious - a tilt wheel would be nice, but very minor on the overall scale of things.

2004 Mazda MX-5 Miata Cloth 2dr Roadster (1.8L 4cyl 5M)

Review

I had a Saturn SL2. The car handles
tight corners, avoidance manoeuvers
superbly. Interiour is well thought
out, nice materials. The transmission
shifts very smooth and precise. Trunk
is small, but better than MR2 Spyder.
Overall quality and finish of materials
is very nice. Longitudianl engine, easy
service. The Mazda VVT and longer
stroke make the 1.8L powerplant feel
more powerful.

Best Features

I bought the Hard Top, that's a nice thing to have. Best Feature? RWD and convertible.

Worst Features

My base model had power door locks, but it would have been nice to have a power trunk relase with it. Would have liked different brand of OE tire. Don't car much for the Turanza tire.

2004 Mazda MX-5 Miata LS 2dr Roadster (1.8L 4cyl 5M)

Review

I have never purchaced, nor owned a
more fun-to-drive car than the Mazda
Miata. It handles curves effortlessly,
has excellent road manners and the
styling is superb. Its nimbleness
allows easy maneuvering through tight
city traffic.

Best Features

The convertible top, of course. It goes down in a snap. The 6 speed transmission gets high marks as well. Bose Audio system is excellent.

Worst Features

A tad more spacing between clutch/brake/gas pedals would be nice. Slightly more power would help.

2004 Mazda MX-5 Miata LS 2dr Roadster (1.8L 4cyl 5M)

Review

My first Miata was a 2000 standard
edition; 5speed, cloth/vinyl interior,
factory stereo/cd, standard suspension
and wheels etc... I drove it for about
a year and loved every minute of it.I
missed it from the moment it was gone.
Now, 2 years later, I have a '01 LS 6-
speed, Nardi interior, leather, Bose
Stero/cd, CC, sport whls/tires and
suspension. As well as the standard
model handled, I was shocked and amazed
at how much better the LS handles.
This car corners like it is on rails.
It's definitely not a muscle car, it
has plenty of pep and I get 30 mpg hwy,
and 20-25 city.I highly recommend the
Miata to anyone who wants to enjoy
driving again!

Best Features

The exterior is sleek & sporty; cockpit layout are sharp. The sport suspension package eats curves alive without even a whimper from the low profile tires and 16" wheels. The Miata trunk can fit full sized suitcase -try that in an MR2 Spider. And, good old fashioned REAR WHEEL DRIVE!

Worst Features

My main complaint about the Miata is the lack of padding on the console/arm rest. The 2001 has functional cup holders, where the 2000 did not, which is a major improvement.A few more horses wouldn't hurt, but with gas pushing $2/gal, I'm a happy man with my Miata.
