Test Driver Ratings & Comments

Acceleration commentsThe best launch technique is to rev the engine to about 2500 rpm and feed in the clutch before going to full throttle. This produces almost zero wheelspin which is necessary with the 3's massive torque. Wheelspin launches were considerably slower. Upshifting at 6000 rpm also improved times as power falls off seriously after that.
Braking ratingGood
Braking commentsConfident pedal feel and effectiveness. Simply stand on the pedal and hold on. We did see marginal improvement as heat increased in the system. No brake fade was noticed in this one-stop-at-a-time test.
Handling ratingExcellent
Handling commentsExcellent balance combined with excellent grip produced impressive numbers on both the skid pad and the slalom.
