2004 Mazda 3 Hatchback s 4dr Hatchback (2.3L 4cyl 5M)

Review

Love this car so far! Styling is exquisite, handling is
superb. The youthful interior styling, while initially
skeptical, has proved to be very well laid out.

Only problems are with the glovebox, which doesn't
always shut well. Engine could use a little more
pull at certain RPMs.

Overall, this is an exceptional vehicle. It's solid as a
rock. You will not be disappointed.

Best Features

Xenon headlamps. Inside level adjust for headlamps. Interior and exterior styling.

Worst Features

A turbo option would be perfect. Better trunk light.

Review

This is without a doubt the best car in it's class. The
funny thing is, it is also the best car in the next
class also. I have the Lava Orange sedan i loaded
minus the navigation sys. This car not only gets
looks, it creates whiplash on the highway. People
constantly stare to see what it is. Many features
avail that make it feel more like a luxuary coupe.
People constantly think it is a BMW series when they
first get a glimpse. This is an excellent choice for a
small family or someone who wants the feel of a
sports coupe without spendning 25,000. Once you
drive this car you won't need to shop around
anymore.

Best Features

Styling, Handling, the way it makes me feel when I am driving it!

Worst Features

Inside panels get marked easily. (Don't fear they wipe right off with a soft cloth or a grab it. I keep grab it's in the glove box which by the way, you could serve a buffet dinner out of. It's Huge!) Upgraded speakers, remote trunk release.

Review

The Mazda3 has been the most satisfying
purchase I ever made. It turns every
trip or errand into an action packed
blast. (Please obey the speed limit.)
The right ammount of power, great
brakes, superb handling and feel, and a
shifter that makes you want to shift.

Not only is it ridiculously fun, it is
also ridiculously practical. I can fit
2 car seats and a booster in the back
seat. (Carefully selected, narrow seats,
mind you, but still 3 seats.) Attention
people with 3 children: Don't get a
minivan or SUV as a second car. GET A 3!

I considered a WRX or SRT-4. Both are
faster. Neither can match the complete
package and value that is the Mazda3.

Best Features

All aspects of its velocity control system. (Stop, go, left, right.) Great stereo. Xenon headlights illuminate deer very well. Beutiful exterior and interior. Spory, grippy seats. Blue nightime guages illumination. WIDE back seat. Huge glove compartment. I could go on forever.

Worst Features

Minor nitpicks: the floor/spare cover and storage tray in back is a bit flimsy. Could use firmer motor mounts to prevent engine shake under full throttle burnouts on rough MN roads. Stock tires are poor in snow. More power and AWD would be great, but at this price I can not complain one bit!

Review

This is my first new vehicle purchase
and I have to say that I am VERY
impressed overall. I love the body
styling, the 17" alloy wheels, and the
abundance of options you can choose
from to customize your car! The
handling and agility the car provides
is incredible for this price range. The
engine has a definite refinement about
it that I did not feel in the Corolla,
or Civic. Interior space is nicely
appointed and can fit four comfortably.
It feels large. The hatchback also
provides ample room for cargo when the
rear seats are folded down.
Ergonomically the interior beats the
competition hands down. My only
complaint, gas mielage is lower than
anticipated.

Best Features

Built in stabilizer bars, available options, i.e., xenon headlights, tire pressure monitoring system, side curtain airbags, ABS, leather seating surfaces, etc.

Worst Features

Side view mirror defoggers. Other than that I am just waiting for the tuner parts to start hitting the market. :o)

Review

Gorgeous car (in 5 door form). Vette
drivers stare. The metallic Velocity
Red Mica paint is stunning in sunlight
or other strong lights... it burns with
orange fire highlights. Lacks a bit of
Protege5 visual character, but is much
more refined. Driving it is very
pleasant. Handling is very good up to
the limit, but then it becomes vague.
Engine is so quiet, using auto-manual
mode requires watching the tach. Weak,
thirsty engine. A/C is weak.

Best Features

Appearance. Handling. Uniqueness.

Worst Features

More power! Elongate and elevate the center armrest to make it useful. Ask Honda how to make an effective A/C unit. More side bolstering on seats. Less body roll. Lastly, better gas mileage.
