Still beautiful, sleek & reliable

ReviewThe Mazda 929 is still one of the more beautiful sedans on the road. Discontinued in 1995, it is typically described as sleek and "Jaguaresque." I could not justify another $20K for a new Millenia. My 1992 model has been extremely reliable for nine years. It is quiet, smooth and quick off the line. Cornering is a little soft and the driving position can be awkward. The trunk is small. The costliest repairs were muffler system, struts and radiator. Timing belt needs replacing every 60K. Overall though, a well-maintained 929 should be a used-car bargain.
Best FeaturesStyling & reliability.
Worst FeaturesDiscontinued, but could have been a performance star with better suspension, adjustable steering wheel, and storage space.
