Great Midsize Value

This car has certainly impressed me with it's level of refinement for paying just a little more than $18,000 with 0% interest. The chasis and suspension are superb, making highway cruising quite and comfortable and back road twisties a real joy. The clutch and shifter work well, although there is a little too much clutch travel for my liking. Fit and finish seem to be excellent inside and out. The new for 2004 2.3L 4 cyl. engine is smooth, responsive, and turns in respectable gas milage (29-30 mpg mixed driving) I opted for the sport package in sepang green with Bose audio system.

THIS is the car for my fellow Baby Boomers on a budget! The ride is awesome, taking turns like a fine tuned lean mean driving machine. When I step on the gas to pass or change lanes, my head pops back! Man, what a rush. The cockpit interior is awesome, I love the red lights. It's so much fun, I sometimes just get on the road and go nowhere. And when I get there, I turn around and head back!

Okay. I really haven’t had the experience of driving it yet. Just test driving it. Went out yesterday to lease my 90 year old mother a new car. She had been driving upscale Mercury Sable. The dealership now also sold Mazda. Talked mom into the Mazda 6S with the 17” wheels and dual exhaust. Would have liked her to have the manual, but she opted for the 5 speed automatic. Can’t wait to compare it to my bimmer.

Try all of the others before trying the Mazda 6. You will be very surprised how this car compares to the others. It is just the right combination of looks, performance, safety and price. The new Camry and Accord are such BORING designs. They are good cars, but lets get some pizazz in the exterior and exterior of them. The Mazda 6 is as good as both of those, but with GREAT LOOKS inside and out!

Original Owner. Well Maintained commuter car. 50K miles. 6 Cyl. 5sp manual. Loaded. Squeaks and rattles everywhere. Lots of problems: Trany, Engine replacement, Brakes, exhaust, electrical, engine performance, suspension, steering, seat breaking, to name a few. Approx 20 times / year to dealers a year on average. Bad Dealer experiences(not very knowledgeable, poor service, poor quality work) and Mazda Customer Service did not seem to care. So much for Mazda advertising quality and taking care of the customer. Not in my experience. Did not like them doing computer updates without my permission. Hurt car's performance and they refused to reverse the updates.

Bought new in 04, traded in a Passat which was nice but had electrical problems. The "6" has been one of my favorite cars of my 30 plus years of driving. It is the only car i have actually kept for 100,000 miles and I plan to keep it another 100,000. I have done one spark plug replacement, one battery, new front brakes including calipers (ouch) about to put on the third set of tires Yokohama Avid 4vs got 55,000 miles better and cheaper than stock Michelins, and regular fluid changes. Leather still looks good, paint is great. Just had the radiator flushed and while at the dealer sat in a new 09--nice car a little bigger all the way around but it doesn't have the handy two stage console. Picky

What a surprise this car has been! I searched long and hard for a replacement for my SVT Contour, and voila! the Mazda6 is my late SVT's big brother! More power and just as good handling... the price is phenomenal for this quality of a car. Many of my friends guess that the Mazda6 costs about 10-15K MORE than what I paid for it :)

I purchased a 2004 Mazda 6i this month (actually week) and have put over 1000 miles on it. It is ONYX Black with black cloth interior, sport package with spoiler, 17" wheels and Bose Audio Package. First I have to say that I love almost everything about the car. My only problems are:1)The cloth used in the door inserts is rough and has no padding underneith it making for soar arms if you wear short sleeve shirts. 2) Despite seats that adjust up/down, forward/back and recline and a tilt & telescoping wheel it is hard to find a comfortable position and still be able to read the speedo. Other than these minor quibbles the car is awesome!

First, I'm 6'1" and have problems finding cars to fit me. I tried the Eclipse and Scion tC and found neither to have enough room for me. I tested the Mazda 6 cause it looked nice and was pleasantly surprised to find it had more than enough room for me. I loved the fact this car had everything I need within easy reach and the V6 was nice to drive. I bought an automatic and I have yet to regret the decision. The Bose audio sounds nice and the luxury package has options higher priced cars have like heated seats & heated mirrors. The sports package made this car look better and any other car. I bought the S sedan for 26k with tax and titles included.

Goal: replace 99 Passat. Finals: Acura TSX and the Mazda 6. 13 and 11 year old need four doors.Pluses: TSX interior, tad nicer but not by much, lighting on the gauges better on the TSX, 6's are nice but harder to read in day with lights on.6's moonroof switches better location.A/C controls ease of use a wash. The ride and handling of both cars is great, but for less money(Mazda's deal, Acura's don't) Mazda's V/6 beats the TSX's 4cyl on reg vs prem gas. 6's rear seat plus 2inches leg room and a bigger trunk, and nifty rear seat release levers in the trunk. Hopefully, reliability will be better than the VW.

For evreything you get with the 6, it with out a doubt is one of the best values out there. I had an Accord that a traded for my new 6 and the comparisons are not even close. The 6 looks better inside and out and is much more exciting to drive. The horses are a little low but the smooth-fun drive more than make up for the lack of power. This may be the best investment I have made on a vehicle. Bottom line, Mazda has sold me, I will be back for more. Very impressed!

The Mazda-6s by far is the best sports sedan for the money. I just traded in a 2001 Nissan Maxima that I paid 5 thousand dollars more for and this car blows it away in every category. The reviews and ratings on this car speak for themselves. Very highly rated automobile and well deserved. It also has a 4 year 50,000 mile bumber to bumber warranty.

This is by far the best car I've ever owned. It drives and handles beautifully. I opted for the automatic, and I love that it allows you to shift manually if you want. The turning circle is a little wider than some others, but it definitely is the most fun car to drive and hugs the roads like it was on rails.

I bought this car new and have never regretted it. It is THE best car I've ever owned and plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off. With 73k miles on it so far the only things I've done were normal wear and tear items, new brakes, tires and a battery. I did have to have the radio antenna replaced because I knocked the old one off while washing the car. She still looks great and I get lots of comments on how nice it is. Not a rattle on her and she drives like a dream. It's a shame that the big 3 can't build them this good. Sporty style with a very comfortable interior. I'm 6' and weigh 280 pounds and am very comfortable in this car.

Poor Factory Workmanship, Fit & Finish

2004 Mazda 6 s 4dr Sports Sedan (3.0L 6cyl 5M)
0 of 0 people found this review helpful

Poor fit & finish, hood, bumper cover, fenders & front end accessories are out of alignment & a bent door. A loose windshield gasket and a rattle in the dash. I looked at Mazda6 cars on 3 dealer lots, each exhibiting similar poor exterior workmanship. I complained to both the dealer and Mazda corporate, all to no avail. Ignored for nearly 120 days, the Mazda factory rep finally told me that the poor workmanship "meets the factory standard." & that the bent door "may be" my fault. Examine your Mazda6, & note the hood & bumper cover alignment & the hood's over hang. I expected acknowledgement & timely service. I should have bought the Altima!

So far this has been a good decision; the car has enough go to feel safe and sporty. We've had a couple of minor problems like needing an alignment and the driver's side sun visor losing tension; both we repaired under warranty with no problem. For a car that I paid <$18K it has been a great choice. My wife loves it and I enjoy driving it when we go on trips. I would recommend it without reservation. If I was buying it primarily for me then I would chose the 6 cylinder but the wife likes it because she doesn't need to fill the tank often. When I drive it I find it to have plenty of power, good handling characteristics and it is just plain fun.

We got it loaded with the sport package, leather, and the Bose stereo system. It is the best looking sedan on the market and a joy to drive. If it is like my last Mazda, it should last for years with no problem. We put 2600 miles on the car in 18 days so far. It's just fun to drive!

In the search for a new car, I was looking for something unique in the automitive world. I found that with my Mazda 6. It's surprisingly powerful for a 4-cylinder. The interior and exterior are both very attractive designs. I really love my new Mazda. It hugs the road, and in the rain I feel safe driving. If you want a car that will turn heads, and accelerate faster than every other 4-cylinder after the red light turns green, get this car.

I just bought my Mazda 6 less than 2 weeks ago and I love it! I did the research online and drove at least 3 other cars (Nissan,Honda,Chevy) and the Mazda was my favorite. The style is sporty and on the same level as the Altima but at a better price tag. The interior is refined and classy - very well thought out (and not cheap looking). The car handles very well and I saved some cash and bought one with the manual transmission, wife can't drive it (yet) but it is very smooth to operate and I don't have any complaints/doubts about my decision. My advise, look around and drive different cars...but don't forget the Mazda 6!
