Review

Car is exceptional. It is quiet, comfortable and the mileage is great. I notice that by adjusting your driving you can improve mileage. In a recent 80 mile expressway trip I averaged 27.5 mpg going just under 70 mph. In the city, I have gotten as much as an average of 35 mpg. This is nearly double the mileage of my last car, a 2002 RX 300. With gas prices now so high, I feel like I have the best of both worlds. I can keep driving an SUV and get great gas mileage as the same time. Plus the car is a dream to drive.

Best Features

The navigation system is outstanding. The rear door now opens and closes automatically. The cd changer is better than the one in my 2002 model which placed the changer in the glove compartment.

Worst Features

Not much to improve although on sunny days, sometimes the rear end camera is hard to see.

Review

Great vehicle! Above expectations! We were concerned about purchasing the "New Technology" of the Hybrid, but, NO COMPLAINTS! It’s awesome to drive! It does take a little “getting use to” but, in no time, you’ll LOVE driving it. When the engine shuts off and you’re on nothing but battery, the vehicle is quiet as a mouse. My son calls this “Stealth Mode”. The looks you get are funny, they see you moving, but hear nothing. They can’t figure it out. The vehicle runs smooth and quiet during normal operation, you don’t notice the engine shutting down or reengaging, there is NO hesitation what-so-ever. The transmission is superb! One gear, smooth and fast! It just doesn't get better than this!

Best Features

Drives smooth, fast acceleration, great gas mileage, Bluetooth is a plus, navigation system easier to use than the 2004 model,Voice activation is great. Stablization system saved our lives! Getting 27 MPG. It has A LOT to do with how you drive

Worst Features

"On-Star" would be better, improve on the breaking system and continue improving on the mileage.

Review

I just got this great SUV, and I love almost everything about it. Quiet, comfortable, has great acceleration, and almost excellent fuel economy.

Best Features

Cruising on electric power at low speed.

Worst Features

There is a very narrow range on the gas pedal where you can keep the combustion engine off. If the car had a performance selector that extended that range, the driver could have better control over the balance between performance and fuel economy.

Review

The style of the Lexus 400h Hybrid is excellent (the same as the RX330). If you can afford it, it is worth the purchase. Otherwise, if you need more room for children and cargo, go with the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. Both use the same technology. Also, be sure to get the navigation system; it is $2,000 but worth having.

Best Features

The exterior style.

Worst Features

It would be nice if Lexus would give people the option of CLOTH interior, NO Sun Roof, and NO Cargo Rakes. Also, if you do not get navigation, the dealiership claims they cannot install it; they claim it can only be installed at the factory.

2006 Lexus RX 400h 4dr SUV AWD (3.3L 6cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

Review

I reviewed this car last October and have follow-up comments after a winter of New England driving. Mileage dropped about 3 mpg for both city and highway in winter conditions (I got about 24 highway, 28 city). This Spring I have reverted to the Fall mileage which is right on the EPA numbers, though I drive with the windows down and usually avoid AC.

Best Features

The usual suspects: Navigation system, rain-sensing wipers, backup camera, bluetooth.

Worst Features

1) better keyless entry (keypad or bioscan) 2) voice recognition system that is tied into bluetooth/telephone in lieu of (or addition to) the navigation system. 3) Many telephone and navigation functions are disabled when the car is moving. Keep these active so a passenger can make changes.
