2002 Lexus IS 300 4dr Sedan (3.0L 6cyl 5M)

Review

This has been a great car. I bought it
for my 30th Bday present to myself.
Handles great, looks great and is
bullet proof.

Best Features

Love the exterior looks and shifter.

Worst Features

Definitly needs more power. What about an M3 fighter with the 4.3 liter engine? I would buy one in a second. I am about to buy something else, but they may lose me to a BMW M3, if one does not come out with more power.

Review

I've had my 2002 IS300 for over a year
now. I still love it. Sure, it's not
the fastest of the bunch (still pretty
quick) and has clear taillights (like
every souped up civic out there).
However, it makes up for it in so many
ways. The car fits me like a glove.
It's also nice to be one of only a few
IS owners in my area vs the hoards of
BMW owners. Overall, I have no regrets
with my purchase. The only thing I
might change would be to get a 5spd.
But the e-shift provides a good
compromise between performance and
sitting in traffic.

Best Features

Exterior styling (with exception of the taillights), handling, "fun to drive" factor.

Worst Features

Better gas mileage! I would expect at least 25mpg for a small sports sedan. My 4Runner got roughly the same mpg! Get rid of the clear tailights. Now everyone has them and they're anything BUT "hip." Up the horsepower to contend with others in this segment.

2002 Lexus IS 300 SportCross 4dr Wagon (3.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

I have had this car for 14 months. It
still attracts attention here in Los
Angeles and is alot of fun to drive.
Tested it in rural New Mexico where it
handled very well on a straight
stretch of open road at 130 mph. The
car apparently was not designed for
sport conditions as I have beat the
hell out of the front dam on curbs
and crossing intersections in the city
and the 'cute' low profile tires do not
hold up to either urban or cross
country conditions. Why call it a
sportscross if you can't drive it that
way without the tires falling apart!!!!

Best Features

The in-dash CD player is the best. The e-shift is only useful for going downhill, but the knob looks good. The seats that go down are great for trips to IKEA. I could get more in my little car than the Range Rover next to me on the last trip.

Worst Features

Completely rethink the relationship of the car to the ground. The unavoidable scrapes on the dam detract from the cars appearance. Replacing expensive tires every 10,000 miles is unacceptable! While the IS300 has good performance, it is not a Ferrari.

Review

I love this car, handling is super,
and it very fun to drive and always
great to look at. However, even family
cars like Altima and Accord already
have 240hp, Lexus should give some
more horsepower to the next generation
IS(around 260-280 would be good
enough)...

Performance aside, this car is very
reliable, I had this car for more than
two years and no find problem at all..

Best Features

Both Exterior and Interior, handling, reliability, good price

Worst Features

more horsepower is needed, interior material could use some improvement (although I have no complains about it)

Review

I like it alot. ZERO problem with the
car so far. Only a light bulb is
replaced. Other than that, regular 5k
maintenance is all I did. Great
handling, great acceleration, very
comfortable interior. Quiet for a
sport car. Overall, a better car than
Acura CL-S, 350Z, Audi A4 and C240.
No regret buying the IS-300.

Best Features

Great dealership service. Extremely reliable car. Well built overall. Maintain good resale value. Cool to look at. The air-cond is so very cold..... (a good thing when you live in San Diego like I do)

Worst Features

- More horsepowers - Better fuel economy -
