Overview
The 2027 Land Rover Range Rover is the brand's three-row flagship luxury SUV. As such, it can be optioned to the moon with everything from massaging front and rear seats to a front console refrigerator to a cutting-edge electrostatic audio system that uses thin, high-fidelity electrically charged plates instead of conventional speakers. The Range Rover sets itself apart from the competition with its genuine off-road chops, packing an air suspension that can increase ground clearance to 11.5 inches and its Terrain Response 2 off-road driving assist system that can automatically adjust traction control and throttle response based on surface conditions. Besides being capable off the beaten path, the Range Rover delivers a supremely smooth ride on pavement. If having top-tier luxury features and real-deal off-road capability are important to you, the Range Rover should be near the top of your list.
Edmunds Expert Rating
We drove the 2027 Land Rover Range Rover on our test track and on real roads. Our Edmunds team conducts rigorous independent vehicle testing, driving 500,000 miles a year.
Driving experience
Steering and handling are another issue. Those soft suspension motions equal noticeable body lean when cornering, and the steering feels light and artificial. The brakes are strong, but some three-row luxury SUVs can stop from 60 mph in a shorter distance. On the plus side, all-wheel steering is standard, meaning the rear wheels will turn in the opposite direction of the front wheels to aid your turning capability at low speeds. It's especially helpful when parking.
Speaking of which, it's hard to beat the Range Rover's visibility. There are huge windows all over, you sit high, the mirrors are big, and a 360-degree camera system is standard. The rest of the driver assistance tech suite isn't robust in terms of features, but what's there is well executed.
Comfort
Now the lows. The interior controls are found predominantly in the touchscreen. That can make some controls and settings difficult to find if they are buried in one of the many menus. For 2027, physical knobs have been added for audio and the Terrain Response system. The climate control system is still accessed through the screen, however, and suffers from being seemingly underpowered. The fans are loud and struggle to cool the cabin. We were also disappointed by the creaks and rattles that betrayed an otherwise whisper-quiet cabin.

Storage & cargo
Towing capacity is a strength, at 7,715 pounds, which is plenty for most trailers and boats. (The V8-powered Range Rover has a higher max capacity, at 8,200 pounds.) There is enough space throughout the interior for personal belongings but only just — nothing goes above and beyond what you might find elsewhere.
Value
Land Rover offers warranty coverage of four years/50,000 miles for both the basic warranty as well as drivetrain protection, which is average for the class.

X factor
Moreover, should you attempt to take your Range Rover off-road, it's hard to beat this SUV's capabilities thanks to two locking differentials, standout maximum ground clearance of over 11 inches, and five terrain driving modes, including the Wade one for traversing rivers.
2027 Land Rover Range Rover trim level differences
The 2027 Land Rover Range Rover is a full-size luxury SUV offered in two basic configurations: standard wheelbase (SWB) and long wheelbase (LWB). Seating for five is standard in both, but the LWB gives you a choice between outrageous stretch-out space in the second row or a third row and seating for seven. There are five trim levels: SE, Autobiography, SV, SV Black and SV Ultra.
Which Range Rover trim level does Edmunds recommend?
If you're buying a Range Rover, you're probably not too concerned about getting the most bang for your buck. Still, we think the base SE trim represents the best value of the lineup. It starts tens of thousands less than the next trim up, the Autobiography, and gets you an impressive complement of standard equipment. If you need a little extra grunt, go with the P550e six-cylinder plug-in hybrid drivetrain for its effortless acceleration and around-town efficiency.
Competitors to consider
The Range Rover competes with other premium full-size SUVs, though which ones depends on the trim level you choose. The base SE has a starting price comparable to that of the Lexus LX, Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator, though you'll find the Range Rover more luxurious than those options. Higher trims are priced closer to ultra-luxury offerings like the Bentley Bentayga and Mercedes-Maybach GLS. Against that group, the Range Rover might be the least plush, but it will be the most capable off-road.
