Under full throttle acceleration upshifts occur between 5,500 and 6,000 rpm, and redline is set at 6,000. The shifts feel a bit sloppy and could be quicker/crisper. We tried manually shifting at 5,800 rpm in every gear, which seemed to make a difference in quality and speed of the gear changes. However, the trans will upshift on its own if you wait to long. Traction is not a problem with all wheel drive and power is plentiful.
We noted very slight ABS vibration in the pedal and noise is minimal. All three stops were amazingly short for a large SUV, and there was absolutely no sign of fade at all. Overall an excellent performer in this category.
The big Rover offers great steering feel and weighting, but that isn't enough to counteract the portly SUV's height and weight. We noted lots of body roll, and the stability control interferes even when it's turned off.
