2004 Land Rover Freelander HSE 4dr AWD SUV (2.5L 6cyl 5A)

Review

We purchased our Freelander not three days ago, and we love it already! Filled it up with gas after leaving the dealership (87 octane) and drove around the city for a bit, then on the highway to our hometown. We drove for around 2 hours on the highway plus another hour of stop-and-go driving, and STILL got 20 mpg when we were all said and done. That was the first day. She is still clean and running like brand new!

Best Features

GREAT tranny...nice low gears. Features...WOW! Heated front/rear screens, 5-speed auto, 87 octane fuel, great mileage so far (20 combined mpg), great workmanship on doors and thick windows, silent at 80 mph, no wind-wandering from gusts.

Worst Features

Make it bigger...wider. Power seats would be nice. More dealers (I am two-plus hours from mine). Move the rear seat more aft...who needs the storage in the "trunk" anyhow?

2004 Land Rover Freelander HSE 4dr AWD SUV (2.5L 6cyl 5A)

Review

After 8+ months of ownership of my HSE (better known as Land Rover's best kept secret), I am relieved to know that the critics were wrong! This head-turner is the most responsive and fun-to-drive SUV I have ever owened. Other than a few cosmetic flaws, I am very pleased with its driving responsiveness. As a further compliment to Land Rover, another household member bought one also!

Best Features

Heated winshield, "High" sitting position, its flawness handling!

Worst Features

"Beef-up" the engine, better interior lighting, and please redesign the console cover clasp (Freelander owners have to know what I mean!)

2004 Land Rover Freelander SE 4dr AWD SUV (2.5L 6cyl 5A)

Review

I have both a Mercedes and Land Rover
Freelander. The Land Rover is a lot of
fun to drive. I am impressed with the
manufacturer warranty and how I was
treated when I had a minor problem. I
will buy from Land Rover again!

Best Features

Style, lots of cup holder.... I feel very safe driving my Land Rover.

Worst Features

Power seats

2004 Land Rover Freelander HSE 4dr AWD SUV (2.5L 6cyl 5A)

Review

I've had no trouble from my 2004 HSE. I
consistently get 19-21 mpg and
mechanically, it's been a great
vehicle. The ride is fantastic and the
fit and finish on my vehicle is great!

Best Features

The ride; all the bells and whistles that come with an HSE; the sound system; the manumatic tranny - it's great on steep, winding grades

Worst Features

a larger engine - a 3.0-3.5 liter V6 would be nice; better placed cup holders; increase mpg;

2004 Land Rover Freelander SE3 2dr AWD SUV (2.5L 6cyl 5A)

Review

Critics of this cool little SAV were
WRONG. I signed the dotted line to
purchase, then read the reviews and
became nervous. All of my fears were
unwarranted. Performance? Spirited
performance is how Land Rover
describes it and they're 100% right.
True, it's a small displacement V6
which means that the upper rpm range
is where the fun is! Leave the
shifter in SPORT mode and FUN. Mash
the throttle from the light and it
zips from 0-60 in 8 seconds. Try this
in a Trailblazer. Handling is very
good in dry and especially wet
weather. It loves the curves and
handles them with confidence.
Sluggish at times? Top speed was
around 125 - left a Tahoe a Navigator
and a Civic Si in the dust!

Best Features

Removable top, heated seats stay on after the pulling the ignition key (until you open the door) Nice for cold and windy days. Harmon Kardon sub woofer really thumps. 9 speakers. Range Rover-like headlamps. Rear wiper comes on automatically when in reverse (while front wipers are on).

Worst Features

Manual transmission! More interior lights. Not many more complaints. I love this vehicle!!! GET ONE!!
