Used 2012 Kia Soul Wagon Consumer Reviews
Great car for city driving
The main qualities of this car are: light weight fun-ish to drive with good speed and fuel mileage, decently reliable vehicle with low maintenance costs. The car does well with seats down loaded with my normal backup supplies plus a large bicycle inside it and some groceries as well with two people. The ride is pretty comfortable with a quiet motor and a light body, but the rear suspension gets a little jumpy, and the car becomes a little unstable at high speeds over 60 mph. I recommend 55 mph on highways, as you will get under 30 mpg at 75 mph and close to 35 at 55 if you drive like me in my conditions. The fuel economy is something of note. I use 87 and I live at 6,000 feet (which offers a good balance of cooler air temperatures, air density and drag, maximizing fuel economy for some cars), but I get 30-31 mpg city with minimal stops. The sixths gear engages at 38 mph, which helps. Not sure which engine I'm using. I highly recommend you tale it easy AND USE ECO mode for the most part. The sequential transmission used with sport mode without ECO gives sufficient get up for merges and lane changes, and is plenty of power for most hills and whatnot when loaded down. It can be fun to drive. I got this car with 90k miles and it is doing just great. The interior is nice and has plenty features. The AC is capable and the heater is too. Frankly, the visibility out the rear is limited from the frame of the hatchback. Enough to rely on the mirrors more. The speakers and radio system work nicely at low to medium volumes, but at maximum definitely knock and would have limited life with much use, unless you turn off all bass boosting and are listening to bass less music. Note I am not sure which model I have, only looked at the motor once due to its reliability.

Culinary Carry all!
I teach culinary arts and I have had as many as $1200.00 worth of groceries in my Kia. I love my Kia. It has been the most mechanically sound car I have ever owned. It is my 5th new car.

Mixed Reviews on the Soul +
I have a mixed review of the 2012 Kia Soul. The positive points are that the car was inexpensive to buy, very space efficient and produces excellent fuel economy. I have a handicapped girlfriend and the seat is the right height for her to slide out of her scooter and into the seat. I can also fold the scooter and fit it into the back. This is good. The fuel economy guide tells me that the car is rated at 27/35 mpg. I only use this car for commuting 20-miles each way. My fuel economy average has always between 32 and 34 mpg in normal urban driving. This too is good. The negatives are that the car has really annoying characteristics. The key fob is too big to fit into my pants pocket without leaving a bulge. I tried to find a normal key just to open the door but goofy Kia changed the size of the key blank (for 2012). I cant find a locksmith with the right size anyway. The car also turns off the radio and then yells at me to coordinate my cell phone with its Bluetooth system. My phone is too old to for bluetooth so I get yelled at twice a week forever? The car probably learned to yell from Kia Customer Service people; they yell too. The car has no spare tire but it does have an emergency inflator. I live at the end of civilization in Idaho and there is often no cell phone service when I go fishing/hunting. I cant be sure that I can get roadside assistance if the car has a flat outside the cell phone service area. And I have to carry a cell phone? I would think that adding a spare tire is cheaper than paying the crabby customer service people. Overall, the car is very good at what it does; efficiently moving people at low cost. It is just so annoying in operation that I will not buy a Kia again. Ill buy another new full-sized pickup and pay the extra fuel costs with the money I save from the trucks lower purchase cost and lower insurance cost Kuna Dave
steering problem
i just leased one and found it seems to wander from one side to other ,constantly having to move steering wheel back and forth (a small amount but after awhile this gets annoying)never had a vehicle do this, it is like being behind a tractor trailer or in high winds even in local traffic if you let go of wheel it goes slightly right then after correcting it for this it goes to left ,then you correct and then stars all over again, going to take back to dealer only have it for one day. test drive was on back roads not on straight open level roads
