Brake torqued to about 2,500 rpm produced the best launch. The transmission upshifts at redline even in manual mode. Those upshifts are smooth and don't flare at all. Does this engine have variable valve timing? I think I detected a little more urgency in the upper revs.
Really decent, linear pedal feel and admirable stopping power. No bucking or swerving at all and average stopping distances.
With ESC off, understeer creeps in subtly, but resolutely on the skid pad. Yet the Rondo remains reasonably flat and poised at the limit of tire grip. In the slalom test, the limiting element is the tires which give up before the chassis does. Steering is a little light but still sporty-accurate.
