Way better than Camry

This was such a good option. The car practically drives itself on the highway. It’s modern and turns heads. The headlights could be better and I plan on replacing the bulb with LED headlight. The seats are comfy and the car has a nice acceleration. We chose this over the Camry and wouldn’t go back. This is way better and it has better reviews than even a Honda CRV!

Handsome to look at, great bodywork and cabin quality, nice, intuitive ergonomics and an easy to use touchscreen system. This car is comfortable, smooth and nice to drive. It's loaded with useful, non-annoying tech that's easy to use. The only complaints I have is that I had to buy a spare tire and jack, and the car plays an irritating audio logo every time you start and stop it, like a 1980s video game: Congratulations for getting in and starting your car! And at the end of the journey, "Congratulations! You arrived at your destination without dying!" Seriously, I'm being picky. It's a great car. 20 years ago, KIA was a joke. But now? I'm not laughing. I'm a fan. Update: 24th March 2021. 16,000 miles later, no mechanical issues, no maintenance other than regular oil and air/cabin filter changes. The filters I do myself, super easy thanks to some thoughtful design by the boffins at Kia. An issue with the instrument cluster has developed, albeit a minor one. Despite setting the illumination to manual control, in daylight the display will not dim, but the touchscreen does. Also very occasionally, a warning pops up saying that the forward camera is blocked, when it's not. The warning disappears within a few minutes. Sometimes it'll chide me for not having my hands on the wheel, when I do. Having done some searching, this seems to be a software issue, Kia has a patch for it, but my local dealer is useless and clueless, dimmer than Joe Biden, as if that were possible. Or they just can't be bothered. I may try disconnecting the battery overnight, effectively rebooting the ECU. In the meantime, I put some black electrical tape over the light sensor on the dash, and now I can manually set the brightness and it doesn't flash up to full brightness in a creditable attempt to burn out my retinas as dawn breaks on my commute to work. Update: Feb 4th 2021: Up to 53k miles, no mechanical issues. Coolant changed at 35k miles. I carbon clean the upper engine with Seafoam Upper Engine Cleaner every 10k miles or so. I'm a happy driver. Update, August 2022. Now at 63k miles. Coolant and transmission fluid changed at 60k miles, 4 new Goodyear tires replacing the original Nexen factory fitted ones. Still driving flawlessly, no issues. The Goodyears run much quieter than the Nexen and provide much better traction in the wet, but have increased fuel consumption by 4-5mpg

Was always a little leery about bargain brand cars. Was surprised at first Optima I drove, then again when it was restyled. Almost bought one, but bought 2014 Sportage instead. Liked. Now drive 2019 LX dark blue. Really nice. Great UVO infotainment center. Nice motor/at combination. Willing to wind out satisfyingly if you ask it too. Stylish. Only one usb port, however. Not a deal breaker. Love Android Auto. Maps are really nice, etc. Less muscular than it used to be, but more sophisticated.

Very nice standard features like reverse camera, lane assist and collision warning. Very spacy interior for its class.

Best purchase 125K miles since 2019 still strong!

I bought the 2019 Kia Optima LX/FE gutter model as my daily commuter car, as I drive 120 miles a day for work. Couldn’t risk the hefty repair bills or kill another BMW with all the miles I have to drive for new job. It has been more than reliable. Ive only done oil changes with standard oil every 7500 miles and the very minor necessary required maintenance to keep the warranty. It was so inconsequential I forgot what part it was after 100K miles. I changed the spark plugs at 100K miles and have only had to replace the rear brakes after 100K miles! Oh! It was a radiator fluid change-out. Dont let these drive-thru lube places ream you or touch the transmission fluid! Read the manual yourself. All the standard safety equipment and features like backup camera, a large screen, blind spot, lane assist, forward collision warning etc etc that it comes with is absolutely phenomenal. True story: I traded in the Kia for a 3 series BMW 330i, and ended up returning the BMW to get this car back after 3 days because the BMW didn’t have all the standard features! Its spacious, performs well for what you pay and is an absolutely comfortable drive. Definitely reliable to say the least. I wish they didn’t discontinue the optimas. IF this car starts acting up at around 200K miles, Ill start looking at the new K5. I hope this helps!
