I thought I got a great deal on a new 2023 K5 GT-Line but drove away with a lemon. I thought at first the clock just needed to be set and I would do it when I got home. Tried for a while to figure it out and then called. So the clock, navigation or remote start functions don’t work. Sales guy said bring it in, service looked at it and said it needed new software. Left it for a day for new software and when I picked it up they said it was actually a faulty cell antenna. No estimated delivery in the part. Waited a month with me periodically checking in and finally the antenna arrives. Leave it for a day and now they say the entire radio display console needs to be replaced with now estimated delivery date. THIS STUFF WAS ALL NO FUNCTIONAL WHEN I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT!!!! Shame on me for not checking everything before leaving the lot. How did it pass the “Inspection”???? If I was the dealership GM I would be embarrassed by this happening on my lot. But maybe this is just acceptable for Kia.

Having been in this post-pandemic, chip shortage, car-buying experience for a while now, I have spent endless hours looking at dealerships, cars, sticker prices, markups, dealer add-ons, etc. Usually I have a found that a dealership will post their markup and dealer add-ons on their website, add it to the sticker price, or note it in the dealer options on the Kia website or their own website, basically not hide the fact they are going to overcharge you simply because they were the lucky dealership to get a hot car. Not this dealership. I knew I found a hot car and that I got very lucky finding it so I looked at their website several times, looked at the Sticker Price several times, read dealer notes, called and spoke to a sales person and knew I needed to move on it quickly so I left work early. I drove 1.5 hours to this dealership ready to purchase the vehicle. When I get there, the salesperson informs me the sales manager is going to add a markup to the sales price. Huh, so the sticker price isn’t correct now? The price on the website isn’t correct? Thinking I might be in for a small markup, the salesperson comes back with a $10,000 markup added to MSRP. Says this is a hot car and other dealerships are doing it or adding options ... as if that justifies it. At least with options you actually get something. I guess I moved too fast, showed too much interest in the vehicle, but a $10,000 markup is nothing but pure greed, especially when you proudly display a “code of ethics” sign on the wall. Horrible deceptive dealership. We learned the hard way to never do business with Demontrond on I45 in Houston. First off they charge $3000 for market adjustment. Don't believe anything the manager tells you. They will add an extra $2000 for everything from paying cash or not financing through them. We asked about the 1.9 financing that Kia advertised. Well that will cost you an extra $2000. They also charged for dealership installed items like glass itching that we did not agree to. They hide it in the consumer service. Which manager said was for dealer delivery prep. No mention of window etching. Your total might come out the same as when you signed the agreement and gave them your non-refundable deposit to buy the vehicle when it arrives but they change numbers around in the finance department. So we ended up paying $1000 for window etching that we specifically said we did not want. And if they tell you the car is in transit don't believe the arrival date they give you. Note the deposit is non refundable so you have to just wait for car to arrive. The car was to arrive on March 14 then 24 but didn't arrive till the 31st. Turns out it didn't ship till the 15th. Yes salesman slipped up on giving me that information. They will blame it on KIA and delivery service. Just beware! Please note it's not the KIA vehicle we purchased. The Soul is great. It's the dealership.
