Vehicle

2005 Jeep Liberty Sport 4WD 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 6M)

Review

DaimlerChrysler has a winner with this engine/vehicle combination. Excellent fuel mileage for its weight and size, ability to use alternative fuels, excellent handling and ride, solidly built, climbs 6 percent grades in 5th gear lockup at 70 mph, and have seen upwards of 34 MPG on the interstate at 75 mph. Put this engine in a Dakota 4X4 and DaimlerChrysler will be selling trucks faster than they can build them.

Best Features

Fuel mileage, power and torque, handling and ride, very comfortable, controls well laid out, outstanding headlights and nighttime visibility, delay setting on rear window wiper, huge round ventilation louvers, heater than can run you out of the cab.

Worst Features

Six speed manual tranny for higher MPG, more gauges and fewer idiot lights, offer diesel in 2WD version as high MPG urban cruiser.

2005 Jeep Liberty Sport Rwd 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 6M)

Review

I have owned Chevy Blazer, GMC Jimmy, and presently own a 2004 Dodge Durango (Hemi--of course). After driving and enjoying them all I must say that this Jeep Liberty is the most fun to drive. It fits into parking spaces that most SUVs won't, and unless you have 4 or more kids, I feel it is the ideal vehicle for women from their 20's all the way though their 40's. The vehicle is functional for the administrative duties on the job, travels well and it looks great when I show up at meetings or when I want to spend a night on the town.

Best Features

Handling; 4-wheel on the fly; cargo space; remote start; navigational system; 6-cd changer; full-size spare tire; gears on the floor; Infinity stereo system.

Worst Features

Automatic seat adjustments should be standard on the driver's seat.

2005 Jeep Liberty Sport 4WD 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 6M)

Review

EGR problems; DC replaced under warranty. Tires of poor traction quality.

Best Features

Torque at low RPMS is great. The bush trail capacity is awesome.

Worst Features

Better tires -- standard front metal bush bar or -- a better bumper. The plastic junk for a bumper now is a bad joke. Rock guard grill required to protect underside of radiator from rocks flying up. I had to build all these adaptations to make it truly trail rated.

2005 Jeep Liberty Sport 4WD 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 6M)

Review

I am very pleased with my 2005 Jeep Liberty. Yes, it does drink quite a bit of gas within the city, with the normal "stops" and "goes" traffic. However, on the highways, it's very economical. The Jeep Liberty is a "fun" vehicle to drive.

Best Features

Nice and small, easy to park.

Worst Features

Leather seats should be standard equipment, along with an outside temperature gauge.

2005 Jeep Liberty Limited 4WD 4dr SUV (3.7L 6cyl 4A)

Review

This vehicle must be a lemon; I really try to like it. Had egr valve replaced at 9000 miles as engine light had came on to stay; dealer had to order the part which took about a week to get. Engine still misses and just throws a fit every once in a while; took it to dealer to get it fixed and they said it was ok. Little do they know. ha ha ha

Best Features

Would like to get my Liberty fixed. Dealership has good reputation. The Jeep is basically a good vehicle.

Worst Features

Raise the headlamp beams and improve the interior cargo. Put the window buttons on the window not down on the center console.
