2005 Jeep Liberty SUV Sport Rwd 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 6M)

Review

Great torque, fun to drive, BADLY put together, Horrible dealerships and awful service, 15 mpg, engine mount design causes really bad huge vibration at temps below twenty degrees below zero. Warranty is meaningless. FIFTEEN MPG. Horrible, horrible - run screaming into the night and buy a Toyota.

Best Features

Shiny.

Worst Features

Close the doors, stop production, go out of business or make ash trays.

2005 Jeep Liberty SUV Limited 4WD 4dr SUV (3.7L 6cyl 4A)

Review

Real solid SUV ride you can feel the quality of Jeep reputation. Interior is comfortable and classy. Got me out of a lot of snow clogged spaces.

Best Features

Heated seats and motorized drivers seat.

Worst Features

Window open and shut switches should be on door not on center console - not s practical place to put them. Put door locks on console and window switches on door! Please!

Review

They could have easily made the diesel get better mileage. The seats need more cushion - nice leather surface but they are hard as a rock on 8 hour trip. Feels like metal skeleton inside the seat is sticking in your thighs, maybe made for large heavy person? Windshield is almost straight up like a nice wind blocker reminds me of a Suzuki Samurai, worst jack system ever conceived - not very usable and takes forever to use, could use a particle filter for better mileage and lower emissions. Auto Only shifts gears at certain speeds, 4th at 50mph. Should be variable and able to hit 5th in city driving 40-45. Really nice to tow with, even pulling large trailers, like my 30', 600# camper.

Best Features

Diesel, lots of torque, trip computer, gps, heated mirrors, auto dim rear view, multiway power leather seats, best 4wd SUV mileage, easy diesel maintenance, AC heater block, big alternator, great towing and 7 point plugin, large gas tank, stocky looking, well built, good 4wd system.

Worst Features

Wind/road noise inside, front floor gets cold in the winter so more air tight, button on dash for rear window, diesel mileage, aerodynamics, lower seat height and provide more ground clearance, hard leather seats, tiny dash, straight up windshield, bad jack system, heated spray nozzles, front locker.

Review

We had 7 flat tires. Recall on ball joints and transmission turbo charger. Have had egr airflow control valve and gasket replaced. Now it is leaking power steering fluid. Flat tires occurred with bad tire sensor valves and inferior equipped tires. The automated tire sensor system needs some work. If you buy this vehicle, purchase the extended warranty. You will need it. Also brakes make grinding, moaning noise. Friends who own Liberties have this problem also. Safety commission is investigating fires in dashboard.

Best Features

Fun to drive. Fun looks.

Worst Features

GPS should come standard and also a better sound system. More comfortable seats.

Review

The reason I bought my Liberty CRD was for fuel economy and towing. So far the best mileage I've had was 26 on the highway on I40 through the Appalachians in NC/TN. I wish there were more interior room, though. There's a transmission hump right where I like to put my foot when I'm using cruise control. It's also been in the shop a few times, luckily still under warranty. So far, the EGR valve, torque converter, ball joints, a a glow plug have been replaced. The ball joints and torque converter were recalls, though. I also have a problem when the fuse for the rear wiper blowing at random. I think I might trade it in for the Grand Cherokee CRD when it comes out.

Best Features

Pulls a loaded 16' tandem axle trailer like it's not even there! Great fuel mileage.

Worst Features

Mount the spare tire differently so it doesn't interfere with the trailer hitch. More interior storage for little things like sunglasses, change, phone, etc.
