2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV Limited 4WD 4dr SUV (4.7L 8cyl 5A)

Review

Great car. Love everything about it except the fuel mileage. Haven't been able to take any long trips as yet due to illness in the family. I am anxious to see if the valve cutout system actually makes a difference on steady speeds over a long period of time. Handles like a dream, low center of gravity makes it handle on curves wonderfully. Acceleration is superb.

Best Features

Handling feel, it's as if you are part of the car; I have enough left under the hood to get out of most jams. Brakes are outstanding.

Worst Features

Needs a little more leg room in the front and a little better seat support for the driver.

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV Laredo 4WD 4dr SUV (3.7L 6cyl 5A)

Review

Bought used with 32,000 miles. Transmission began to leak from a bad seal but was covered by warranty. Transmission also does not feel like it shifts properly, with hesitation especially on an incline. Check engine light came on just after warranty went out, unsure of the problem. Fuel mileage is good for an SUV, 22 mpg on long trips 17 in town. Ample room, I am 6'4" and am comfortable, except if the car seat is behind me then it is very cramped. 4wd is great in the snow.

Best Features

Mileage and 4wd, good value for the money

Worst Features

Jeep does not seem to be the same quality that it used to, interior looks cheap and mechanical components seem cheap.

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV Limited Rwd 4dr SUV (4.7L 8cyl 5A)

Review

Having leased a 2000 Jeep Laredo, I was excited at the new Jeep models in 2005. A week after purchase, I discovered that rain was leaking through the pillar between the windshield and driver's window. Dealership fixed, but leak returned several times afterward. Disappointed in exterior integrity. Mileage better than expected on highway. Fairly comfortable ride. Rear windows would open, but wouldn't go back up without pushing them from the outside. Overall, disappointed in Jeep "quality".

Best Features

Sound system, rain sensor, climate control, new look.

Worst Features

Integrity of vehicle needs work, too many things going wrong on a brand new car.

Review

I now have 35,000 miles on this Jeep. It gets 17 miles to the gallon on the highway, 15 in the city. Just towed my 20 ft Bayliner to south Florida. It got 14.7 miles to the gallon and I didn't even know it was there. The truck handles great on the road and there are no rattles when on the bad washed out roads. the v8 motor has more power than Chevys or Fords . This is the best truck I have ever owned!

Best Features

U connect hands free connection. Sirius satellite radio. limited slip rear end.

Worst Features

Lower suggested retail price.

Review

No matter the make or model of any car, there will always be cars with many problems and some who never have any! Luck of the draw. Well, we didn't luck out. We've had nothing but problems. Everything is under warranty, and there was a recall (no big deal), but it's already been back to the dealer for the following: replaced the torque converter, roof leaks, fuel sensors died, had to replace entire gas tank, had to replace the starter, shakes at certain speeds, and even stalls out at times. Transmission is HORRIBLE. Seems like a lot of problems to have within the first year. We were excited to buy the Jeep (both of us being previous Jeep owners), and wish we bought one that wasn't defective!

Best Features

Style, safety (one of the safest SUV's in its class).

Worst Features

Better accommodate people over 6'0. Car seats only fit properly in center seat & vents don't move to cover all angles (just check them out when you look at the car). Fix the many small details they seem to have overlook, Replace the transmissions with one of better quality, & they'd have a great SUV!
