At under 60,000 miles I've already
replaced both the front and rear
differentials. Now I'm having
transmission problems as outlined in
bulletin 21-02-99 (harsh 1-2 shift at
speeds of 10-15 mph). Jeep will not
stand by their transmissions or assist
me in any way. I will never buy a Jeep
or Chrysler vehicle again and I
strongly recommend you look elsewhere
unless you like visiting repair shops.
The tires have held up well and I
expect to get 70,000 miles out of them,
which is at least 12,000 more than my
transmission. But that's probably
because they were manufactured by
Goodyear, not Chrysler.
Bought mine used with 52,000. Did
brakes and serpentine belt. Had been
offroad a fair amount per prior owner.
Now have 64,000. Really have had no
problems. Have heard the street talk
about transmission failures but no
problems with mine. Again, I think it
matters quite a bit how they're used
Power, ride (yes, they sway a little,
but this one has the up-country
Not the most modern design now, but
still good overall.
I have had a very good experience with
my Jeep. I was a little concern about
buying a redesigned model in 1999.
But I bought it at the end of the
model run, and they must have ironed
out the kinks because I have had no
problems with mine. Very reliable,
fun to drive, great acceleration.
Hieght, ground clearance, no worries
about pot holes, lot of cargo space,
great acceleration, tows like nothing
Better gas mileage. But that is true
about all SUV's.
I am trying to think of something
good to say about our Jeep, wait "I
have it," it's for sale in the
newspaper. Entire front wheel
bearing assembly replaced at 60K.
Water pump at 65K. Air signed off at
60K. The interior room in this car is a
joke for such a heavy car. Quality
throughout is a nightmare. Windows
quit working. Hood lifts replace every
40K. Used the 4WD one time in
snow and developed oil leak in
transfer case 1 week later. I could go
on but I know you get the message.
Any car out there is going to give you
better service than this Chrysler
made piece of JUNK !!!!!!!!!!!
Looks good, but what did your
mother tell you?
Sell Jeep-Chrysler to Honda Motor
Corporation. Scrap entire model and
