I bought my 2007 Jeep Commander in August of 2012 with 59 K.
I had been looking for awhile and finally found one in near mint condition.
I had accepted a transfer to Yellowstone National Park, which was over 1,500 miles away, and thought the Commander would suit my needs.
Since I was pulling a trailer my mpg was not that good...avg. 18 mpg.
When I came home for Christmas/no trailer I avg. 24-25 mpg. My only problem with it was a leak coming thru the grab rails on each side.
Come to find out the drain tubes of the sun roof were plugged but once they were cleaned out I have not had any more leak problems.
I really like my Commander.
Just purchased the Commander Sport, and we love it. The ride is smooth and the seating is comfortable. The appearance is impressive. We are very impressed with the turning radius. Not as happy with the gas mileage, for a 6 cylinder, we only averaged about 17-18 mpg on a recent highway road trip, and close to 15mpg in the city.
I've owned my Jeep Commander for a little over 6 months now and absolutely love it. Rides so smooth even over rough terrain and poor roads. Sound proofing is great and love all the amenities that came with it. Stereo is awesome for being factory, Boston Acoustic package imaging is first class with adequate power. Anti-roll stability electronics has actually help correct the vehicle one time when I approached an off ramp a lil bit too fast and started to lose control. Vehicle corrected itself with appropriate deceleration and braking of proper wheels. I was thoroughly impressed. However sometimes when entering and exiting certain bumpy rotarys I have had same electronics make vehicle stumble.
Commander Overland has everything I need, I tows 7500 lbs, it fun to drive and fits everywhere. Smooth and comfortable ride. I make 400 mile trips to Maine from NJ on a regular basis. I even have the stock goodyear forteras up to 46,000 miles so far. 3rd row seats fold flat into the floor. I carry two black labs back there with their own A/C vents when the seats are down. I tow a 24' 4500 lb jet boat and a 20' 3000 lb snowmobile trailer in heavy snow along mountain passes with complete confidence.
