Used 2006 Jeep Commander Consumer Reviews
Gas guzzler
I have always driven Expeditions so I was a bit leary about buying this Commander. At first I enjoyed it, just because it was shiney and had the new car smell (you know the puppy smell syndrome) but then I began to realize just how much of a gas guzzler it was and how little power it had. I quickly became very nostalgic for the great 'get up and go' my Expeditions had. I would only recommend this car as a weekend 'run a round' vehicle, not a vehicle for everyday use-unless your last name is Halliburton.
Bad boy
This Jeep is bad to the bone. I have the Hemi and the Saddle Brown seats which make the vehicle special. The only setback is that the factory installed a power steering hose incorrectly and it was rubbed raw and exploded with only 200 miles on the SUV. The service was incredible as they sent me home with a new Commander until mine is fixed.

Replaced Volvo XC-90
We sold a 2004 Volvo XC-90 when we purchased a 2006 Jeep Commander Limited Hemi. The Jeep wins in styling, handling, and features. The Volvo got better gas mileage. Somehow, living in central Missouri, I just never got comfortable driving a Volvo. If it needed service, it had to go back to the dealer in Kansas City. At first that was fun. Then it got to be a hassle. The Jeep is fun to drive, rides better than the Volvo, and can be serviced locally.
overall
Wanted an suv and loved the Jeep commander as soon as I saw it. Truck drives very smooth and gas isn't as bad as people want to think it is. I am a little disappointed with the design and quality of certain aspects of this vehicle. The side of both passenger and drivers door collects a lot of rain in side and when opened does get all wet inside floor of truck. This has caused my doors to rust and creak. I just had get a new starter after only 40,000 miles. I take very good care of my truck so now sure why I need a new starter already and dealership had no idea either. They said they never have seen it before. Also my back sensors have pushed in and every time I back up it beeps no matter what
Commander is a Great Jeep
I have had my Commander for a few months now and have put it through rush hour and trips across the mountains in Colorado and i have been pleased and comfortable the whole time. It has enough power to push me up the mountains on onto the freeway. Yes, it does not throw into my seat when I press on the gas, but I did not expect that from a two and a half ton giant. A little squat in my seat makes me happy, nonetheless. The ride is smooth and quiet and things seem put together well. I have been in older Chrysler products and this one is truly a HUGE improvement. Overall, I am happy with my Commander, bring on more snow!
