2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Series III 4dr SUV 4WD (6.4L 8cyl 8A)
Its beautful and feature rich. But a headache from the start. My new 2022 Jeep GW Series 3 has been in the shop for over 100 days the first year of ownership for the same issues over and over again. Heated seat drivers side stops working, ok thats annoying but not a deal breaker. But when it slams on the brakes randomly for no reason and has constant failures of the safety systems, … including lane assist, its not worth the effort and time lost to get it fixed. Stelantis is awful and is making zero effort to resolve this matter.
Stelantis continues to do as little as they can to help owners with all the headaches on the vehicle. Jeep dealers all around my state get regular low scores on surveys and provide pretty terrible service experience. They seem to have staffing issues, lose the best employees to other brands and other staffing related concerns. As far as the vehicle goes, I get random "phantom" errors all the time that seem to go away when I turn off and restart the car. None of the issue I have had lately impact my ability to drive the car and are just annoying. Stelantis in their approach to repairing the car was to reprogram the computer to just ignore the message it seems but the reoccur every once in a while.
Driving the car however is a nice experience. The materials inside and out of the car have not held up as well as with foreign brands (rapid depreciation, rust spots on chrome, wheel coating chipping after tire replacement, fast wearing tires, cheap build quality in rear holding carpet to seats, black trim is now peeling on exterior camera areas and wiper areas, rear trunk trim fell apart but I was able to fix myself after getting a quote for almost 2k, at least 2-3 recalls a year for small but annoying and time consuming items), but for an American car its a much richer interior as compared to the all plastic interior of a Yukon and other GM products. The Yukon is a much more reliable car but has no soul from an interior build standpoint, terrible tech options, constant driving data surveilance etc and I truly hate that about it.
Im very torn as I do love driving the Wagoneer despite the issues, terrible gas mileage and other quirks. They collect and sell your driving data to your insurance company to make an extra few bucks off you which is part of the cause for higher rates these days. They have full control of the data, text messages and it watches and videos you as you drive to offer features like asleep at the wheel. That is not unique to jeep, GM does the same thing and someone should sue them for that. There is something romantic about this vehicle for someone who once had the old one as a child. Jeep has made a mess of the branding and I cant see ever buying another again, but I cant seem to get rid of the truck. The only way to get my money out of it after all this is to just drive it.
