2002 Jaguar X-Type 2.5 4dr AWD Sedan (2.5L 6cyl 5M)

Review

This is my first Jaguar and I love it
more and more each day. The car is very
luxurious, moreso than the bmw, lexus
and mercedes we test drove. So far no,
problems, but we are worried about the
reliability after reading the edmunds
report.

Best Features

alpine stereo, wooden dash, leather seats, stereo controls on the steering wheel.

Worst Features

only one cup holder, cheap plastic interior.

2002 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 4dr AWD Sedan (3.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

I would recommend the X-Type for those
of use who want a Jag, but don't want
to spend a crazy amount of money, and
want a sporty car. I wouldn't
recommend it for the large family, but
for a couple with a baby/child, this
is perfect. Note that the back seat
can accomodate rear facing baby seats,
unlike BMWs of higher grades!

Best Features

Powerful 3.0L engine... don't waste time on the wimpy 2.5L...

Worst Features

the armrest slides forward and backward... don't really see the value but it does make it moveable which i'd rather it be solid, and not moveable.

Review

The car was in the shop for 10
mechanical defects, trans, compressor,
drive shaft, power steering rack,
steering column. Vent grids came off,
headlight washers came off. The dealer
tells me they are swamped with this car
for repairs. It was bought back by Jag.
BEWARE!!!!!

Vehicle

2002 Jaguar X-Type 2.5 4dr AWD Sedan (2.5L 6cyl 5M)

Review

I've put over 27k on my 2.5 X-type
sport and have had few problems.
Typical windshield jet seeping and
trunk popper button are the only things
I've run across. Drove this through a
huge snow storm in NY (from Boston to
Detroit) and was blowing by SUV's.
This car grips the road like none other
and is a blast in the corners. 2.5
could use a little more kick, but w/ a
5 speed manual/Sport Pkg. it's still a
blast to drive. Great looks and
awesome in the Michigan winters....wish
I had opted for the heated seats though!

Best Features

AWD, Handling, Front Looks...

Worst Features

2.5L underpowered a bit, Trunk CD changer is antiquated, rear end is blah...

Review

I completely love this car. From the
styling to the leather interior, this
is far better than the BMW 3 or the MB
C Class. The trunk space is awesome.

Drove the sport package and did not
purchase it as it seemed to make a lot
of noise. The non-sport package is
just fine. The AWD is spectacular.

Edmunds reviewers need to look at the
posts to see how happy people really
are with this vehicle.

Did I mention the head-turns of other
drivers when they see the styling?

Best Features

AWD, the hood leaper and the leather appointments. Seems like they worked out the kinks from the '02 models.

Worst Features

Latches such as the trunk and the gas cap are cheap. The instrument panel is difficult to get used to.
