2025 INEOS Grenadier Fieldmaster 4dr SUV 4WD (3.0L 6cyl Turbo 8A)
We purchased a Grenadier last October and we weren’t even off the lot and were having issues with the outside door handles. When you pushed the knob on the handle, it would stick and not pop back out. We were reassured that this was common, because it is brand new and not to worry, once it gets used it will work. In the meantime, we were to keep pushing on the knob or try opening and … closing the door and it will pop back out. We weren’t quite satisfied with that answer, but at this point we had already purchased the car.
Only after two weeks the drivers side sunroof started leaking. We got it repaired, then the passenger side started leaking, back to Grenadier. We get it back and boom the drivers side starts leaking again. We had a loaner car more for the first three months, than our brand new expensive Grenadier. Miraculously, they did fix it.
After that, all the door handles started sticking. It was becoming such a problem that sometimes we were worried we wouldn’t be able to get it to pop out. We called Grenadier, and they said that there was a recall on all the door handles, shocker! They had to replace hundreds of car door handles and were only getting a few door handles from overseas at a time. I was going to have to wait months to have my handles fixed.
My 17 year-old daughter was driving, came around a turn and the car door flew opened, with her friend sitting next to it, thank God she had her seatbelt on. I called and the service department at the Grenadier dealership and got moved to the top of the list. In the meantime, we had to duct tape the door shut.
Then summer came. We have a beach house on an island and brought the Grenadier there. Since it was brand new, I literally only brought it to the beach four times. We started to see, what appeared to be water stains on all the seats. We thought the kids may have been wet, but how could sitting on a 10 minute ride, with maybe a damp suit, cause such damage. Also, some coffee got spilled on the seat and the stain would not come out. I spent the next several months dealing with this, bringing it back to the Grenadier dealership, where they tried to clean it and could not. They told us it’s out of their hands and to call corporate, which we did. From there it took me calling from September until April to finally get an answer. They kept putting me off, saying they have a case number started, to send pictures and they would get back to me and never would. Finally, in March I got a different person who helped me. I received a letter telling me that the water stains were our fault and not theirs, they took zero responsibility. I just drove it the other day and noticed new stains on the back of the seats where your back goes. This is a fourth car for us and our two older kids are away at school, so it does not get driven much during the fall/winter/spring. Clearly, these are not water stains, and some other defect with the seats.
We even paid extra for these seats and it is appalling to me that Grenadier will take no responsibility, in what is clearly a defect in their product.
Also, last summer I noticed rust on the outside bars to step up into the car. The dealership told me it was because the car is on an island with the ocean air. I don’t know how having a brand new car on an island for two months would cause rust. I have a 20 year-old car out here and it’s just starting to rust!
For a car that cost so much money it is nothing but problems. My husband was so excited when this car came out, because all he talked about for 20 years was buying a defender, but even the new refurbished ones drove terribly. What was supposed to be a fun and new car for him has been a major disappointment. Now we get into the car, see the stained seats and are reminded of the way Grenadier handled the whole situation and the money wasted on this car.
By any other utilitarian vehicle, but this one!!
