Test Driver Ratings & Comments

Acceleration commentsThis V6 is quite smooth and produces excellent power all the way down the drag strip. Upshifts are near imperceptible, but also very slow. Got a bit of wheelspin at launch with ESC turned off. Power braking improved times by about a tenth of a second. Manual shifting is via console lever (pull back for downshifts). Will not hold gears to rev limiter. Does not blip throttle on downshifts.
Braking commentsVery firm pedal with nice, short travel. Not much nose dive but some definite side-to-side wiggling. First and sixth (out of six) stops were shortest at 126 feet. Longest was fourth stop at 130 feet. Tires clearly have little grip.
Handling commentsSkid pad: Soft suspension and low-grip tires mean a definite understeer push. But playing with the throttle does at least have some effect on this. Seats look like they would have some decent bolstering, but in reality they have very little side support. Slalom: Major body roll. Steering has an odd springy sensation each time you turn back for the next cone. ESC can be fully turned off, and as such the Azera can get a loose tail if you get too aggressive and overdrive the car. But it's never terribly disconcerting, and the suspension gives good feedback even if the steering doesn't.
