Overview
With the fourth-generation Honda Passport launching for 2026, no major changes are expected for 2027. The Passport's boxy styling has a somewhat retro SUV look from the 1980s and early '90s, back before the first Passport even existed, and we think it looks great. But inside the Passport is a fully modern SUV with generous passenger space and comfortable seats front and rear, a spacious cargo hold and stable handling. The Honda Passport is one of the best two-row SUVs on sale today.
Edmunds spotlight: Will there be a Passport Hybrid?
Many of the Passport's competitors have adopted downsized and turbocharged engines and/or hybrid powertrains to provide better fuel economy, but the Honda is sticking with its non-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 — for now. A hybrid powertrain could be on the way, though nothing is official yet. If that happens, we'd expect it to be similar to the hybrid powertrain Honda uses for its CR-V SUV, but with a V6 instead of a four-cylinder engine.
Competitors to consider
The high points in the Passport's diverse competitive set depend on shoppers' intended use. We recommend the Toyota Crown Signia, which has a classy interior and comes standard with a hybrid powertrain. More adventurous shoppers might find the Jeep Grand Cherokee or Toyota Land Cruiser appealing, as they offer impressive off-road gear and capability.
