I am grateful for the ease of getting in and getting out. However, I am a senior and whoever designed the little SUV did not have grandma in mind! I need the trunk to go shopping but the door opens so high and is so heavy that I cannot reach it. And I miss the handles that were on my other Hondas above the driver and passenger doors. I have had 6 Hondas. Other than the ease of getting in and out, I'm not calling this my favorite. +

After owning and driving the 2025 Sport Honda HRV for 3 weeks now, here is my review and comments: Comfort— The seats are firm but comfortable. However, for those with a sensitive back, the vehicle might not suit them because the HRV rides a bit rough and bumpy on uneven roads. I also purchased a lumbar support cushion, because the Sport does not have lumbar adjustment support. Room— The HRV is roomier than I expected for its size. Perfect for a small family, running errands in town, or for taking a trip—Plenty of room, and it’s easy to get in and out of for those who like to sit higher than in a car. Gas Mileage— To date, I am getting 31.2 mpg combined. Not Bad. With that being said, I am easy on the gas pedal. Quiet: No, the car is not as quiet as it could be. It does transmit road noise into the cabin, especially if the road surface is rough. Perhaps the non sport models are quieter due to different tire and wheel configuaration. If you want quiet, then look elsewhere. Technology— It has all the technology I will ever need, or use. Honestly, I will not use every bell-and-whistle this SUV has to offer. Interior Materials— Door panels are a basic, cheap hard plastic, but then this is a utility SUV. If cheap plastic bothers you, look elsewhere. The dash board is not as hard as my previous Subaru so time will tell if the sun’s UV rays will damage the dash—I hope not. The upholstery is quality and should hold up well over a long time. I did not get the cheap leather-like vinyl. I did invest in all-weather matts and a cargo tray to protect the carpet areas. Eventually, I add front seat covers to protect the original. Mechanical— This vehicle has a well-tested and very reliable 2.0 litter non-turbo engine with a CVT trans. No, I did not purchase the AWD model as this will deliver poorer gas milage and mechanically it will be more expensive to service. Since I keep my cars for a long time, for extra security, I got the extended Honda warranty, and I am covered up to 100K anywhere in the U.S. and Mexico. I also got insurance on the wheels and tires, and the windshield (with censor camera) since these can be pretty pricy to replace. Power—There have been complaints that the HRV is underpowered. I disagree. The HRV is certainly not a MAZDA SUV or Hyundai, or KIA, but it has enough power to get the job done efficiently. Honda knows what they are doing. If the you want more power, then look elsewhere. I hope my review is objective helpful enough for someone that is considering purchasing this vehicle.

Real great car for the price but those seats will hurt if you ever have to drive 4 plus hours

I have been driving the HRV 2025 for almost a year and really like it. Seats are fine (advertised power seats with the top of the line vehicle however in Canada, the car did not come with it) could use a lumbar support especially for long drives. Amazing amount of room in the front, and rear and with seats down great storage. It can be noisy on certain pavements and that does get annoying on long drives, but overall its pretty quiet. Pick up is fine, especially after reading the negatives on the sluggish engine, I find it has lots of pep and zips up to 120 km before you know it. I like the safety features especially the lane assist and the speed warning signs that show up on the dash as I tend to have a heavy foot on the gas pedal. Overall this is a great car, I may upgrade the size of the tires as the ones that come with it are ok but could use a bit more stability. This Honda is made in Mexico so I hope it maintains the Honda quality. You can tell Honda cut corners on this car as there are no assist handles in the front and on the trunk and an automatic trunk and Hybrid version would make this a complete car. The electronics are easy to use, only thing is that the phone blue tooth link gets lost from time to time. Overall I would recommend it and as a young 74 year old, I have to say its one of my favourite cars of all time.

Edmunds Cons: Slow acceleration, uncomfortable front seat? The SUV has plenty of power and although the driver's seat could use lumbar support, they are comfortable. With a recorded 1500 miles so far, my best milage, and supported by a photo, is 41MPG! My average is 34MPG, so if you drive it well and smartly, the HRV gets better than stated milage per gallon. BUT WAIT, THERE IS MORE: A NHTSA RECALL NOTICE! Yup, the Honda HRV 2025 is recalled for a bad power steering box. And the worse part, is that the repair parts are not available! American Honda Motor Company states its the dealership's responsibility to order the parts, and the dealerships point their finger at Honda while waiting for the parts. Meanwhile, while the dealerships are waiting for the parts to fix the faulty mechanical recall, I am driving a car whose steering can fail at any time, so wish me luck and say a little prayer for me.
