2026 Honda Accord Hybrid

Even as midsize sedan sales continue to fall, the 2026 Honda Accord is ready to serve those who remain uninterested in boarding the good ship SUV. It is the roomiest car in its segment, with a sizable back seat and a giant trunk, and it offers a choice between a turbocharged gas engine and a sophisticated hybrid powertrain that provides nearly 50 mpg in combined driving. Favorable safety ratings make the Accord particularly appealing as a family car. However, if you want all-wheel drive, you'll need to consider one of the Accord's remaining competitors.

Considering Honda's usual product cycle, we anticipated the 2026 Accord would receive a mild midlife update (it was last totally redesigned for 2023). That didn't happen, but the car did receive a few meaningful modifications that make it more appealing. For starters, every Accord now has wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. The standard center touchscreen is larger, and the SE trim level swaps its former dark-finish 17-inch wheels for the appealing 19-inch wheels from the Sport Hybrid. The Sport Hybrid adds black exterior trim for a sportier look, while the Sport-L Hybrid features black badges. Unfortunately, the base Accord LX still doesn't come with a blind-spot warning system.

The Accord's old nemesis, the Toyota Camry, is still kicking and boasts a compelling hybrid-only lineup available in different dynamic/style flavors for different tastes. It's our top-rated choice for a midsize sedan. The boldly styled Hyundai Sonata, like the Accord, is available in gas-only and hybrid powertrains, and it offers great value for the money, especially in terms of technology. We also recommend checking out the Honda Civic. It's a bit louder on the highway and not quite as nice of a car overall, but it's less expensive and has pretty much the same features, if not space, as the Accord.
