Used 2001 Honda Accord Sedan Consumer Reviews
Honda for good
Good quality & performance overall.
Good but not great
It's been very reliable but the threat of transmission failure hanging over my head has always annoyed me. I change the ATF every 20K. I bought a Honda for reliability and not to think about the poorly designed A/T. MPG is only OK for a 4 cylinder. I'm not crazy about Hondas insistence on using only 'genuine Honda fluids'. The A/Chas never been 'freezing' cold like some other cars I've owned. Despite all my complaining it has been a good car. It's just that when you buy a Honda you expect so much. I feel the motor will do 200K but the tranny won't. I'd buy a Ford Fusion next.
Not all hondas are reliable
The car has visited the dealer at least 2 times a month from a faulty leather to the oxegen sensor to the cat converter. i have had to have the keys reprogamed twice and the cars have faulty alignment that creats uneven wear in the tires. this is in fact the worst new car experice by far
Good family car to own
All I can say is that I am very pleased with my Honda experience. Back in 2001, I traded in my 1990 Honda Accord EX for their latest model Accord EX-V6. I had some problems with my 1990, but mainly because I was taking my car to poor garages. Anyway, I've had nothing but success with my 2001. I purchased the extended 100,000 mile warranty, but so far, no problems. Replaced the tires at about 46,000 miles with new Bridgestone Turanzas; they swapped out the 6-CD changer because the laser started skipping, but no mechanical problems so far. I have to replace the rotors soon because I like to slam on the brakes in traffic a lot. I guess I'm somewhat of an aggressive driver. Great ride!
One of the best cars ever built
I believe Honda Accords are one of the best cars ever made dollar for dollar. If you have a job where you drive a lot as I do, I would HIGHLY recommend a Honda Accord. Keep the oil changed and drive them reasonably, and they will go for a very very long time.
