The 2026 GMC Sierra 3500HD is a heavy-duty pickup, so yes, there is a basic work truck grade known as the Pro. But as GMC's pickups are ritzier cousins to the Chevrolet Silverado, pricier trim levels like the AT4, Denali and Denali Ultimate best realize the promise of its more premium branding. Available in three cab styles and two bed lengths, the 3500HD can be configured in numerous ways. Additionally, it is available with dual rear wheels, an option not offered on the Sierra 2500HD, to further enhance the truck's maximum payload capacity. Engine choices include a standard gas V8 or a beefy turbodiesel V8 that's well suited for towing a heavy trailer.

The Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD is a mechanical twin to the Sierra 3500HD, and unless you opt for the Sierra Denali Ultimate, the Chevy can be outfitted to closely match the GMC's luxury. Outside the GM family, the Ford F-350 and F-450 and the Ram 3500 are your only other alternatives. The Ford boasts the most powerful engine and the Ram has the most lavish interior, but if those traits aren't your priority, all are worth a look.

More than just the number of speakers and heated and cooled seats differentiate the cabins in the Sierra 3500HD's trim levels. There are three distinct dashboards. The base Pro trim has a dinky 7-inch touchscreen and basic climate controls floating in a black plastic expanse. Besides different color choices, the SLE and SLT get a more attractive design with a larger touchscreen and better-integrated secondary controls. The Denalis and AT4 have a full center console that separates the driver and passenger, as well as a slightly modified dash layout.
