Surprisingly an excellent car
I never had much faith in ford. I tend to like the Japanese and German automobiles. I have owned 2 Taurus and 2 Explorers. I was in a position where I needed a car. This little mustang ended up being in my price range. Purchased at 153k mi this car performs quite well. I travel regularly from California to Las Vegas and Arizona. This car 6k mi and a month and half later, it has not let me down. It's cheap to fill up and averages 28.4 mpg Hwy and 24.1 City. Tho it lacks the power I'm use to in my bmw it compensates for it in fuel cost & gas mileage. Very fun to drive and handles quite well for an American car.
Sonic Blue GT
Bought this car in June 05 with 12k miles. Now has 115K miles. Mildly modded with CAI, exhaust, short shifter, MACH1 shocks, Ford C-Springs, white face gauges. Only repairs are front brake calipers (self-inflicted SCCA racing casualty) and alternator and battery...and four sets of tires. Consistently gets 25-26 mpg on highway. I want to get a new car but can't find anything that I like better than this one.
Tough to beat these old Mustangs for cheap fun!
Traded my 2002 Honda Civic sedan with just over 220k miles even up for this car (with 125k miles) about a year ago and couldn't be happier with my decision. Mustangs (and American cars in general) get a bad rap for being unreliable, but I've had no issues with mine whatsoever other than minor interior squeaks and rattles which is more likely than not due to the fact the car was owned by someone who lived on a dirt road waaaay off the beaten path in WY. The Civic on the other hand not only blew a head gasket at 200k, it constantly needed minor repairs like power lock solenoids, power window motors, alternator, wheel bearings etc. It's funny, no one ever gave me crap for driving a Civic with 115hp but not a week goes by that someone doesn't comment about how slow my V6 Mustang must be with 80 more horsepower...in reality the car is plenty powerful for normal driving and unlike the Civic I rarely have to downshift to climb hills even at altitude in the mountains. Is it a race car? No, but it's fun to drive and handles far better than a Civic although mine does have adjustable Tokico shocks, 2" drop springs and 18" wheels (all included in the original deal). Also, the Civic definitely did better on fuel in town but my highway MPG really isn't much different (both cars are 5 speed manual) probably because it doesn't need to constantly be downshifted to go up hills. I do miss having a usable back seat since the Mustang back seat has almost no leg or head room although the seats themselves are actually pretty comfortable. Long story short, if you're looking for an inexpensive, fun, good looking and (so far for me anyway) reliable car this would be a good pick.

Beauty And The Beast
It's great. I got it before I graduated. However I did the mpg myself and I found mine only got 18 mpg in the city. That might just be my Mustang though. Compared to other sport cars that's good. The comfort is great, I feel more comfortable in it than other cars. The car has great control and feels like I'm going 20 when I'm going 60.
Not made for comfort
Worst car I ever had. Bought car with 1200 miles, drove 1 year. Very uncomfortable and rough ride. Horrible gas mileage and poor pickup. Car is not made for a 5ft 11 inch 175 pound person. I had a 89 GT 5.0 so I thought I would like the newer model but should have kept the older one.
Nice Ride
Bought my GT in 2006 w/23k on it in excellent condition. Now it has about 46k on the odometer. In three years I've replaced a tire (damaged) and a wheel bearing. The drivers door lock sticks, so I have to use the key. The transmission has a light squeal which goes away when you engage the clutch. Otherwise, it is reliable, very fun to drive, and gets good gas mileage. The five speed is fun but a little clunky/heavy to shift. The handling is good but understeers a little too much and the steering is a little slow.
one year review
The bad. Ergonomics. Headrest isn't there. Shifter too far. Car is way too high in terms of springs. Interior design dates back to 94. Maybe this happens to just my car but you can hear an air leak on the drivers side in freeway speeds. Squeeky rear suspension. Dealer can't figure out what is causing it. The good. The power and handling is pretty good. Lots of fair price aftermarket modifications for it. The exterior design looks very muscular. Too bad for the 2005. Looks like the t- bird route.
mustangs
I have had my car for only 9 months and it has been in the shop 4 times within a month for the rear end going out! Now, It is going back for the 5th time for the same thing! I can take it in and then get it back and within a week it is going back! The rear end continues to pour oil out and it has a very bad burning odor!!!!! I will say that I have bought a LEMON and the dealeship is NO help!!!!!
Awesome
I have owned my car for over 2 1/2 years and haven't spent a dime in repairs just an oil change every 3000miles. I have a cat-back exhaust and air intake on it. When driving it easy on the highway I have gotten 32mpg! This is the best car I have ever owned.
Still the best bang for the buck!!!
I can honestly say that I will never purchase a GM product again. The performance, options and quality that Ford has built into these vehicles is unbelievable. I've already added a pro 5.0 shifter, bullit s.s. pedals, roush cold air and flow mufflers. The true duals really like to irritate the neighbors too. Love pulling up to the ricers sounding like weed eaters and opening up a can of v8. My insurance is less than a 4cyl celica, gas mileage averages around 19/20 combo. Love this car and plan on keeping this one for a very long time. Previous car 96 TA
Great Car!
I've owned this car for 6 years. Never had any major mechanical problems. My passenger window has a short in it and it won't work in the summer time. I highly recommend this vehicle.
Love My 'Stang
I bought it used in 2004 with 29k miles on it. It is fun to drive, has decent gas mileage, (mostly drive it around town), and I have had only two repairs. The windshield washer pump went out shortly after purchase, but the dealer fixed it for free and the alternator had to be replaced in Nov. 2007. Other than that, it has been trouble free. My husband is 6'1" and feels very cramped when riding in it, but I'm 5'1" and it's great for me. Not made for 4 people to sit comfortably in it. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a sporty, good looking car at a reasonable price. The only Ford car I would buy! Both kids want it when I get tired of it, they might be in for a long wait....
There is no other pony car....period!
Waited 30 years for the experience! I bought her brand new 5 years ago, never regreted a day. The mileage is fine for this kind of car. Just add on some simple bolt on parts and the power picks up even more. It is a premium GT Coupe, so the leather seats make it comfortable on long trips. It has been totally reliable...even the battery is still original. She is pampered..yes, but it takes all I dish out, the (Traction Control light) comes on a lot. That tells you how hard I can be. 25 miles highway, 20 around town. After all these years I love driving it everyday. We love it so much we also now own an 04 Mach1. Keep those new Camaros and Challengers coming out, they'll make a splash and disappear.
fun car
Great car to look at---fun to drive as well. Lots of power, even on the v6. I have to say that there is one major issue, and it involves the cupholders. They are placed in a horrible spot--behind the gear shifter. So every time you go to change gears, your arm/elbow smacks the cup. I don't know how ford let this one fly.
Sweet shiny pony
I'm 43 and this is my second Mustang. First one, I bought new in 1981, and it was a tragedy from day one. This 03 car, although just the base model, has plenty of punch for my purposes. Yes, I'd have liked the V8, but I have a perfect driving record in spite and the big engine would inevitably put points on my record. I'm 6-2 and 220, but the car has plenty of leg room. I do have to pop the steering wheel up to get my legs under it, but once in, it's really comfortable. The car hit 110mph over the weekend-- on a track, of course!--with no problem. Best part is, I got it NEW for less than 13 grand with a 4.7 interest rate. All in all, quite happy.
Awesome first car
I received my Mustang for my first car and I have loved driving it for the past three years. It turns heads, provides the get up and go needed for passing on the interstate and has decent milage for a sports car (averages 20mpg in town and on the highway). I have never had even the slightest problem with the reliability of this vehicle. The only thing that concerns me is that it is totally a warm weather vehicle, in the midwest where we can get a few feet of snow at a time, the RWD and light overall weight of the car just is not safe enough even in town on snow-packed streets. Also, for long drives, even my young back begins to hurt. Even with these criticisms, I still love my Mustang.
My 2003 Ford Mustang Gt Deluxe Coupe 4.6 V8
I absolutely love this car to death, with American Muscle to order my parts from, I have the baddest car ever. They say the mustang is the poor mans sports car, well! I'd take my car over any other car on the planet. Thank you Ford! Thank you American Muscle!

You dont Know what your missing
This is by far the best car ever built with 260hp, this car was made to fly.
Probably my last Mustang unless its a 65-72
My wife chose this car for her to drive. When we bought a new car for her, I drove this car for a while and disliked every moment behind the wheel. Everything about this car just felt low quality. The interior felt cheap in every aspect. Everything inside was made of a poor quality plastic that seemed to crack just from the vibration of the car. I know that Mustangs are notorious for being light in the rear. This car only had the 3.8L, but it still was bad about drifting on any wet pavement despite the lack of the GT power. I have owned many vehicles in my time, and I think that this is one of the worst as far as the quality of workmanship. The car regularly had issues needing repair although most were minor considering I do my own repairs. Resale, like most Mustangs with the 3.8L, is very poor.

The Ultimate Pony-Car
I recently bought this as my first car. This is one of the most reliable Mustangs on the market with lots of great features. Good crash test ratings, good handling, good acceleration, good speed, and a lot of torque for such a small car! It is a lot of fun to drive and it handles very well as long as you have the right tires. The breaks are also very efficient; it can stop on a dime and still give you it's change back! This car is a lot of fun to drive, so definitely check it out if you're in the market for a new car.
not if you live where there is snow
Love my car but if you live anywhere it snows more than an inch get a winter car I get stuck every where I go when there is snow on the ground and I live in Buffalo NY so 7 months out of the year. I but this car brand new I love the way it looks and drives the clutch could be a little more friendly but other then that I think its a great car for anyone who likes a sporty fun to drive car
New Mustang Buyer
Highly reliable. Only a few minor problems in the first 15K miles. Fun to drive, great for long and short trips.
A Great Car!
This is the best car I have ever owned. Ford really got it right, they kept the best attributes of the original Mustangs and melded it with many of the benefits of modern technology. This car is fun to drive, great looking, a tribute to American engineering and automotive design. If you want a rear wheel drive muscle car, this is superb car at a very reasonable price.
ford mustang
the basic mustang is a fun car to drive.the v6 motor has some power but could use more.your not cramped up front.the back is slightly crampy.trunk space is spacy for lots of little things.i like my 2003 mustang.
Excellent
Great Vehicle fun nuice comfortable
Awesome
I love this car! It's great looking, great to drive and turns heads. Get the extra features on it and it's a car to love forever.
dskajkl
great car so amazing i cant wait to see the new 2004 mustang
love the car
love this car. it is the best car ever and i am really glad to have it.
A real looker!
This Mustang body style is my favorite of the last 30 years. I can't stop just staring at the car. I was going to buy a truck, then a VW, but I decided to test drive the GT, and I was hooked. For the price, you can't get any better pony car anymore. With lots of aftermarket goodies, you can easily make one of these 300hp+, which is good enough for me for a daily driver.
Fun Car
Its not my '67 but its still a blast, the traction control is a pain when driving up a steep wet road, it tends to slip alot uphill. Other than that more power and a better suspension at a lower cost and this car would be perfect. Cant wait for the 05's
Worth every penny
The first new car I ever owned, no major complaints after 7 years. Glad I got the V8, awesome power and very fun to drive. Interior lacks some refinement and options that are standard in other vehicles, but probably not in this class.
Mustang#1
Well, the experience that I have with this vehicle is exiting. This is my favorite car, so you can imagine the exitment that it is to drive downtown in the evening and get that cool air.
Best car I've ever owned
OK I've only had my license for 4 years but I've owned and test driven quite a few cars. By far this is the best and funnest car, for the price, I've ever had. So far all I have had to replace was the battery and the alternator which for me was super easy and took like 5 minutes total in labor. So far I have only put on a short shifter, BBK cold air intake, MAC off road mid-pipes, and an SLP loud mouth cat-back on it, but I hope to do more soon. The worst gas mileage I have ever gotten with this car was 18 mpg city and that's before the mods, which now I never see below 20 mpg city even if I race it and highway is at about 28 mpg being relatively nice to the throttle!
Love It
Looks great, feels great, sounds great Nice factory sound. Fun to cruise in. Attention getter.
awesome car- - - ->ford mustang!
this is da most awesome car ive ever had, awesome breaks, good gas mileage. great everything!!!!
I dunno
I love it! The car is awesome and is so comfortable to drive.
Love of my Life
Best car this family has ever had, and there have been at least 100. Personally tend to be a heavy duty truck fan myself but am in love with this car. great to drive and fun to ride in. i even enjoy washing it! have liked mustangs for years and thought owning one would lower my opinion of them but if anything i love them even more.
great car
so far an excellent machine
Great car to buy and drive
It's a wonderful car to drive and own...many compliments are given to the driver
best damn car ever
Had everything out there. Mustang leads the pack!
Love this car
Fun to drive and cool to have
Mustang lover
It may not be like the 2005 that is due out next year, but it is RETRO enough to me
A hoot to drive
If you're in the market for a new Mustang get the GT. The additional money spent is well worth it. The car's ride is smooth. Those that say it isn't must have gone from an Accord to a Mustang. I traded in a 2002 Explorer Sport and the ride quality is much better in the Mustang. Passing in traffic is nothing less than confident. Where else can you spend around 24-25K and get a kick-in-the- pants acceleration. Plus, the aftermarket parts choices are near endless. A supercharger, exhaust and some cosmetic work will be done in the future.
Muscle Car Top 10
This is my fifth mustang in the past 10 years I never had any problem with it. God Bless the Ford motor company.
Sunglasses Should Be Mandatory
Almost everything about this car is Perfect.
Overall an excellent Mustang
This excellent car is a huge step up from the 1993 GT I owned previously. It is far more refined and much more of an adult car. The handling and power are smoother, the power band broader, the breaking much better, and the manners are calmer. Also, the 1999-up cars have probably the first decent leather seats in the history of Mustangs.
a fullfilled wish
I have thoroughly enjoyed my 2003 Mustang, I have wanted one all my life and am not at all disappointed. It has supurb handling ability as well as style and class. Easy to manuvre and good gas milage.
MY FIRST SPORTS CAR
Fun to drive, nice pony package makes everyone to look. Acceleration good for V-6 Automatic transmission. Exterior design is perfect a real sports car.
MY STANG
THE STANG IS ONE OF THE BEST CARS I EVER OWNED THERE ARE NO WORDS TO EXPLAIN HOW THE STANG MAKES ME FEEL WHEN I DRVE IT ONLY THAT IT MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I WAS 18 AGAIN THE STANG HAS GREAT POWER FOR A 3.8 AND HAS A SMOOTH RIDE EVEN AT 115MPH NO SHAKES AT THAT HIGH SPEED AND ITS ALSO GREAT ON GAS
02 Mustang GT
This is my sixth Mustang and so far it has been great. The ride is much better than my 1990 5.0 but the interior seems much smaller. The Mach 460 sounds great, wish I had it in my other vehicles.
