2003 Ford Focus SVT 2dr Hatchback (2.0L 4cyl 6M)
We started off well, me and my orange
Euro appearance SVT when the clutch
starting making odd sounds around 6000
miles. I brought it into the dealer
where he replaced the clutch & flywheel.
He also borked the exhaust system,
alignment, and shift linkage. I brought
it back because my SVT steered like a
cow and the dealer aligned it and
"balanced" the tires. He actually
"unbalanced" the tire and now my car
shakes like a paint mixer. The shift
linkage broke three miles from home so I
drove at 6000 RPM in first gear. The
dealer repaired the shifter but crashed
the front-end which now squeaks like an
old rocking chair. Ford built it badly
and the dealer has finished it off.
Looks cool, fun when it runs, great stereo until that breaks. Great handling until the dealer jacks the alignment & borks the wheel balance. Weak at low RPMs but since the shifter and cluch are trash, it's only drivable in 1'st anyway. Free loaner when in the shop!
Ford's initial quality & dealer quality are AWFUL. My car is a hopeless pile of junk. It steers awful, handles awful, shakes (if I can get it out of 1'st), scares me to death and, since the dealer has ruined it, the car is worthless(6700 miles). It could have been fun.
2003 Ford Focus LX 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 5M)
I enjoy my new Focus. It is a
confortable car and I like it. Still
not confortable with the gas
mileage...could be much better for this
Performance in general and design
2003 Ford Focus SE 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 5M)
This car is the worst piece of trash I
have seen in my life. After 2 months
and 5k miles the engine blew
out...Great work Ford...Living up to
your name of fix or repair daily.
I liked the external styling and the ac was excellent.
make an engine that will last at least 3 months...
2003 Ford Focus ZX5 4dr Hatchback (2.0L 4cyl 5M)
I've enjoyed our ZX5 Focus a lot. The
power is adequate, though not great,
and it handles like a champ on all
types of roads. I love the way the
interior is laid out, ergonomics are
good, seats are comfy. Our minor
problems were that we had to have it re-
aligned after only 17K and the paint
chipped off the shifter knob at about
15K. The alignment could have been my
fault, I do drive it pretty hard. The
exterior looks get a little old after
awhile, but aftermarket parts are
Handling, drivability, plenty of room w/ back seat down.
More power, body kit option @ dealer, move the wiper controls father from the ignition - I'm always turning them on when starting the car.
2003 Ford Focus SVT 4dr Hatchback (2.0L 4cyl 6M)
At first I really enjoyed the car. It
is great fun to drive. The 6 speed
provides good pull at every shift. I
have experienced some problems with the
car however. It has been back to the
dealership 4 times with clutch problems.
One of those times I had to be towed in.
Finally all the clutch assembly, slave
cylinder etc. had to be replaced.
Needless to say with less then 20,000
miles on it, I have lost some of my
confidence in the car. Gas mileage is
good but the car requires gasoline rated
over 91 (super premium). With prices
over $2.00, it can cost well over $20.00
to fill the tank. I will not buy another
Focus SVT again.
The car has a great stereo system. I have the warming seats which feel great in cold weather. The six speed manual is fun to drive-very quick and the car handles great.
