After looking at a Volvo S80 and the new TL, decided to testdrive the 500. As comfortable, stable and optioned (with what I'd want) as either at $10K less. First 1000 miles produced 20 mpg city and high 20s highway.Very comfortable for long drive, great sound system and CVT creates smoothest drive experience ever. Criticisms of power without basis. More than enough for PA hills; never need to reach 60 in 6-7 seconds. Love the info module and the system checks. Returned with rear seats down to carry as much as I could have in a small SUV. Overall, I've never felt more certain about a car purchase. Ford should advertise this car more - a loaded Limited is clearly a winner and a great touring car!

A perfect fit

This was the ideal choice for me, a one car owner. It gives me the style and comfort I want along with large capacity trunk space and room for long items. It works well for me as a good handling and driving machine with a homeowner's cargo hold. I enjoy driving my 500 and it has performed as well as I expected.

Great Choice

No problems with 1,300 miles on the clock. Everything about this vehicle says solid. Rear seat is as comfortable as it gets in anything short of a limo. Fold down front seat allows me to carry lumber with the trunk closed that would stick out of a lot of truck beds. It's easy to drive it and some say it's underpowered, but I have never had my foot to floor asking for more. The CVT allows all 203HP to be on tap on demand. Message center provides spot-on mileage estimates. My fill ups have been within .1 gal of what the computer says I've used. Handles like a smaller car.

For years I've only been driving SUVs because of my size. I'm 6 ft 7 and not skinny! I tried out the 500 and was amazed that not only did I fit in this sedan, but I was comfortable and normal-human-sized people actually fit behind me too! This car drives like one of my father's neat German sports cars (BMW, Audi) compared to anything I've driven before - it's great!

New owner's impression

As of this writing, I have only owned this car for a few weeks. We looked at Lexus ES300 (used), Impala, Chrysler 300, Acura TL (used), and a few others. Many of these where fine cars. However, we felt that we got the most value for the money with the Five Hundred. This car has loads of space, is very comfortable, has excellent safety ratings, decent styling, and good mileage. On top of that, the dealership was very decent to work with. My wife and I are happy customers.
