Platinum 4dr Crew Cab 4WD SB (6.2L 8cyl 6A)
Our 2016 is a used fully loaded 6.7 diesel Platinum Crewcab 4x4 with a 6" lift on 35" Nitto Terra Grapplers/Gear rims (bought with 4000 miles). Every bit as luxurious as a premium sedan, great ride quality/low noise for a big truck, and surprisingly good MPG thus far (15mpg city/19mpg hwy). Towing our RV or boat is effortless. The short bed allows my wife and I to camp out in the bed … with an air mattress and sleeping bags--we like the outdoors. Too early to comment on long term reliability, but the 6.7 has a good reputation thus far. Love this truck. Well done Ford!

This is about the 2016 Crew Cab 6.7L V8 Diesel 4x4 Platinum. Edmunds site only shows the 6.2 even when I specifically select diesel.
Paraphrased:
Poor craftsmanship - strike 1
Poor fuel economy - strike 2
Wouldn't cover obvious defects - strike 3 and forget you Ford. I've got three sons who I'll raise to never own a Ford truck and understand that we don't buy them because they're shady … crooks.
Details: I've owned lots of different makes of truck but Ford has always been my go to. I bought this truck brand new on the lot 26miles on it. 4x4 Platinum. Between 400-700 miles I noticed that the body panels weren't semetrical on the driver's side. The top and bottom of the driver's door lined up with the other panels but the center of the door in the bevel had about an 1/8" gap. The rear bumper was also about an inch lower on the driver's side, and I also noticed that there were some indentions in the driver's leather seat cover consistent with a misfeed on a sewing machine. The dealership adjusted the bumper, and the door. The door wasn't great but the bumper aligned well. I also made them pull a car fax to ensure it didn't get damaged during delivery. As for the seat cover Ford denied warranty on that claiming that natural scarring isn't covered. Trust me these are man made. Strike 2. I noticed poor fuel economy too early on. Understanding these trucks aren't made for fuel economy everyone I know that owns these trucks touts 16-18mpg. I've never seen 16. Not 55 on the highway or 70 on the interstate. I was staying at 13-14 towing a cargo trailer or just the truck alone. The dealership and Ford's warranty response was short. "Ford doesn't publish fuel economy for the work class trucks". Strike 2. Fast forward to 37,000 miles. Yes 1,000 past warranty. AC quit working. Ford service center runs a bunch of tests and discovered that not one but both Schrader valves were leaking (the fill nozzles for the freon). They refilled the freon and I asked them to cover the replacement of the valves under warranty. They denied. I appealed the denial of warranty based on the fact that the leak was so slow and it was just Spring that we know the leak must have began while still in the warranty period. Also, these valves are not moving commonly serviceable parts. I pointed out that nowhere in the service schedule are you prompted to check or service the valves and that no Ford I've ever owned has ever required they be serviced even beyond 100,000miles. Also the fact that both are leaking points like it's likey a part defect. They said I could "split" the cost with them $400. It's a $200 service at any reputable shop! Strike 3. 48,000 miles now the leak is so slow that the AC still blows cold which would indicate to me that the leak easily started prior to end of warranty. Also fuel economy is down to 10.9mpg and I never tow, all service is done at dealership, fuel filters every other oil change which exceeds the dealers recommendation. I'll never buy another new Ford again.
