2004 Ford F-150 4dr SuperCab XL Rwd Styleside 6.5 ft. SB (4.6L 8cyl 4A)
Needed a basic truck, paid $19,500 for
a F-150 XL SuperCab from Claremont
Ford. Very sharp styling and interior
design. Ride is smooth unloaded and
even with an 800 lb. load in the bed.
Base V8 has adequate power. Tested
against Chevy & Nissan, but not Dodge.
Chevy's design is dated and the V6 is
weak, & rear seat room is poor.
Nissan Titan: Great engine/trans,
extremely bouncy ride, rear seat angle
is too acute and not comfortable,
doors "cave" in when shutting, flimsy
door handles, no room to negotiate on
price ($24K base).
Low base price. Sharp int/ext design.
No squeaks or rattles. Doors close
solid with a proper "thud". Rear seat
is most comfortable in class. Chrome
bumpers on base trim.
Make rear door open 180 degrees, tie-
downs on floor of bed, more power from
the 4.6 V8.
2004 Ford F-150 4dr SuperCrew XLT Rwd Styleside 5.5 ft. SB (4.6L 8cyl 4A)
First-time truck owner; don't see
myself going back. The baseline truck
I was loaned is disappointing compared
to my vehicle with the extra options.
Interior, two-tone grey with captains
cloth looks great. Plenty of room,
and storage; like the extra cup
holders. Don't have much to go on,
but the handling is responsive with an
excellent turning radius; easy to
manuever; truck drives itself. No
disappointments, so far.
The options make this vehicle: after-
market power moonroof, power sliding
rear window, deluxe mirror package,
tint, chrome side rails, bug guard,
fog lamps, spray-on bedliner, etc.
Baseline model doesn't compare.
Sound system is disappointing. The 6
CD in-dash is cool, but the sound is
terrible with low quality speakers,
console, or both. Noticed in both
trucks I drove. The automatic sound
dimmer when slowing down drives me
I love the truck, the thing i do not is
the fact the tires wear out way to fast
and you can not put good highway tires
on it that will get 50k worth of
miles.I am 47 yrs old and i baby this
truck and i rotate tires every 5k and
review pressures once a month.still
doing that, i only get 25 k out of a
set of tires that are way high priced
