2003 Ford Explorer XLT Rwd 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

after about a year of researching used
mid-sized suv trucks i decided on the
explorer and i couldn't be happier. it
has everything we need, having a
newborn and a 6 year old, with the
optional 3rd row seat and 2nd and 3rd
row air. the 210 hp engine provides
plenty of power and doesn't lag even
with the a/c pumping full blast out
here in the desert heat.

Best Features

2nd and 3rd row air, quite engine, couch-like ride

Worst Features

bump up the hp on the V6 to 250 hp.

2003 Ford Explorer XLT Rwd 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

First time Ford owner and very
impressed. 15k and no problems yet.
Overall, love my truck. Impressed with
how well it's put together. Excellent
value for money. Great well rounded
overall American SUV that is real
competitive if not better than its
imported lookalikes. Has everything
you need. As all vehicles, take care
of it and it will take care of you.

Best Features

Surprisingly smooth ride provided by the independent rear suspension and has a nice modern interior touch. Nice touches like: adjustable pedals, air vents in 2nd and 3rd row seating, the rear window hatch opens up waist level for easy lift in to store your gear.

Worst Features

Though engine gives strong low rpm torque performance could've used more horsepower like other similar suvs for passing-by power. Everything else is so roomy and big why couldn't the sunroof be bigger. Would let Ford know about that.

2003 Ford Explorer XLT Rwd 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

We test drove several SUVs, including
Durango SLT. Explorer had the best
ride and reliable ratings we could
find. The 3rd row seat was easy for
kids to get in and out.

Best Features

Explorers have a nice ride compared to other SUVs. Functionality!

Worst Features

Front door handle are located below knee.

2003 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Rwd 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

We also own a Lexus RX 330. The Eddie
Bauer is right there in performance,
features and quality. The V-8 is a
must. The motor is quite and the ride
is very good. No problems to date.
The only problem is the message
screen. It is much too small and
cannot be read in the sunshine. There
are data on this screen that needs to
be seen.

Best Features

The entire SUV is most acceptable and we especially enjoy the sun roof. The two section rear gate is excellent. The head lights are the best on any car I have ever owned. Driving / fog lights help greatly.

Worst Features

Message screen as noted above. Daytime driving lights should have been on this price SUV.

2003 Ford Explorer XLT 4WD 4dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 5A)

Review

This is my 5th Ford, and my second
Explorer, this one replaced my 2001 XLT
Explorer, no comparison, this one by
far is more comfortable, roomier, and
handles much better, not to mention the
great ride

Best Features

Adjustable pedals gave me the extra room I needed, also the auto headlights are great

Worst Features

mudflaps would be nice, GPS would also compliment this vehicle
