Acceleration is brisk, but not quick. The V6 has enough power to move the vehicle, but with a load or using it to tow, it would certainly feel taxed. The Ford pre-programmed shift points were spot-on, as we could do no better by manually shifting the automatic. The quickest run was with a brake-torque start and leaving the shifting chores to the Ford computer.
Stability was good but not great. The Explorer exhibited minimal nose dive. We did encounter moderate ABS system grinding noise that could use some silencing.
