Ford - Quality is Job One????

2001 Ford Explorer Sport 4WD 2dr SUV (4.0L 6cyl 5M)

Abosolutely pitiful build quality. The
dashboard rattles and squeeks
incessantly from no less than three
different areas. And the center console
makes a loud knocking noise while
driving, the cheap plastic began
cracking after less than
two months on the road. Let's see...the
overhead console dangles from the roof
because only 2 of the four screws were
actually installed at the factory; and
my favorite - the doors are made out of
recycled beer cans, I believe. When you
close the doors you get a crashing
metal-on-metal sound, not the nice
solid "whoomp" that other new vehicles
(that cost far less, btw) exhibit. The
ride is terrible...wear your kidney

Best Features

The Premium stereo w/ 6-disk in-dash changer sounds incredible. The motor is the most redeeming quality of the truck. Plenty of get-up-and-go, whether you are leaving a stop light or passing on a 2-lane highway. Good cargo space for a truck this size.

Worst Features

MAKE A BETTER VEHICLE! This truck reeks of being an afterthought, a creation from Ford's leftover parts bin. I can't believe they had the gall to put a $29,000 sticker on this heap. I am actually getting ready to cough up $4,000 just to end the lease early.
