2003 Ford Sport Trac XLT
Drives like a wild horse. Ride is very bumpy. Wind noise.
2001 5 speed
Overall a very dependable truck. Agree with postings on brakes going in short order. Also had a clutch slave cylinder go bad (under extended warranty). Other than that, no problems. Has never left me stranded. Exterior design still looks good after 4 years. Balance between crew cab and pickup capacity is perfect. Interior design on base model is very plain (yet functional), but what can you expect in a base model. Pickup bed is great for the hardware store/dump runs, but lacking when you go to get any 4'x8's. Yes, this is a compromise, but an acceptable one when compared to cost of a crew cab full size pickup.
Ah, my sport trac, how I love it.
I love my Explorer Sport Trac. It is fun and easy to drive. The problem with most four door trucks with full sized back seats is that they are so darned long, they are hard to drive. I love my Explorer because it drives like an SUV, but I can haul stuff like a truck. I only have two complaints: 1.mine didn't come with a cover for the bed, so if it rains I have to put the stroller in the back seat, and 2.the gas mileage isn't that great.
I like it!
Have had a new thermostat put in. Have also had to have air/fuel valve replaced. Buts its a fund truck to drive and very versatile with pickup bed and room for 5 adults!
GREAT Family SUT
I bought this truck used with about 30k. It now has over 50K and the only problem was left rear turn signal would not work sometimes. I tracked the problem to the switch in the column. The wire for that bulb was too short, factory defect, and would get pulled enough to stop the electrical feed. Other than that it has been a great little truck.
