2004 Ford Excursion Limited Rwd 4dr SUV (6.0L 8cyl Turbodiesel 5A)

Review

i just traded in my 01 v10 excursion
for an 04 diesel and absolutely love it
(and i live in baltimore city). i use
it as an every day vehicle and wouldnt
recommend anything else if you need
cargo area. this truck looks great,
handles good, and has enough power to
pull a mountain. gas milage is much
better than the v10. the only downside
is that nobody wants them so if you do
get one dont plan on trading it in or
selling it without taking quite a loss!

Best Features

the rugged body looks, the spacious cargo area, the overall great power supplied by the turbo diesel.

Worst Features

complaints are that for a 55k truck it should come with navigation or at least have the option. the stereo system is subpar and gets distorted at low volume but the dvd player looks good. also, the 3rd row isnt real easy to get out of the truck and carry around for one person.

2004 Ford Excursion XLT 4WD 4dr SUV (6.8L 10cyl 4A)

Review

I have found the excursion to be a
worthy competitor to the chevy
suburban. Although gas mileage is
slightly worse than the chevy, the
power and driveability of the excursion
is unequaled. The steering is more
responsive then the chevy even though
it is some seven inches longer and
approx. 1900 lbs heavier. Do not be
intimidated by the size of this
vehicle. On the exterior it seems
almost too big to control, but when in
the drivers seat control is all you
will feel. The high stance of the
excursion provides superior visability
in city and highway traffic. Noise
levels are at minimum even when on the
highway passing big rigs.

Best Features

Approx. 48 cubic feet of storage without moving any of the seats, and an unbelievable 100 cubic feet when you remove the third seat and fold the second seat. I can fit a 4'x8' sheet of plywood in the back with room to spare all the way around!!

Worst Features

I would change the location of the 4wd drive controls. They are located on the right side of the steering wheel on the dash. This position requires the driver to move his head to the right slightly to see them. I would also like to see an optional full time traction control system.

Review

i have always wanted this
truck.
i traded
in her 98 expedition.my limited's color
is mineral gray which is a very rich
color.i had a remote starter,power
sunroof and navigation installed by the
dealer.i had the nav unit un-installed
and the original cd6-radio re-
installed.the reason being is that with
the nav unit you lose your radio
controls in the steering wheel and the
console and you can only listen to dvd
movies on the headphones.my wife did
not care for these inconviences so the
original unit went back in.i am
getting 14 mpg in in-town driving and
with the 44 gallon tank it is weeks
between fill-ups

Best Features

so far the quality and quietness of this truck is great.everything works with a feeling of quality.my kids love the dvd setup and with the gamers power pack i bought they love playing game cube also

Worst Features

i would love the third seat to be powered like the expedition's.it does not have to fold into the floor but if it was powered and maybe even split it would be easier to lower down and put the load on top of it
