2003 Ford Escape XLT Premium 4WD 4dr SUV (3.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

I stumbled onto the Novato Ford lot to
rule out purchasing the vehicle and 2
hours later I owned it. The dealership
was exceptional and the Escape the
brought me to test drive screamed at me
to purchase it. I'm sure it was one of
the best purchases I've ever made and
every day I own it I think how lucky I
am.

Coming cross country was such a blast.
I experienced all the usual weather
patterns for the summer and the vehicle
never even flinched. It handles so
much like a car on the street and I
find it comforting to know that I can
take it off road when necessary.

So now I'm a Ford man and very happy.

Best Features

The drive. It handles so much like a car and thats a big plus to me.

Worst Features

The gear shift should not be on the column but on the floor. It interfers w/ the radio controls. (I understand that to be a change in future models).

Review

I love my '03 Escape. It is just
enough for me and my little family.
Plus, those of us with a baby to
change, you can take out the stroller,
and lay the baby in the back to change
the diaper. I LOVE THAT!!!!

Review

I can't seem to get an answer as to why
my clock does not automatically come
on. Why must I push the clock button
every time i drive the car? I got
nowhere with asking the service dept.
One guy told me I must not have gotten
that option!! It is just plain
annoying!!

Worst Features

Put a working clock in the car along side what radio station you are listening to.I also miss my thermometer and compass.

2003 Ford Escape XLS Popular 4WD 4dr SUV (3.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

I bought my Escape just before we had a
winter with 28 inches of snowfall. No
problem for the Escape. We live on a
steep hill and our side street never
gets plowed, I had no problems with the
4 wheel drive system, even without low
range.
During the spring and summer it handles
very well, good steering response and
turn in. Plenty of room in the rear
seats too(more that the CRV).
A very balanced suspension, well
designed automatic 4 wheel drive system
and peppy V6 make it an all around
great value.

Best Features

Acceleration, handling, interior room and ability to tolerate snow conditions well.

Worst Features

Better tire choice. My Escape came with Ameritrac SUV tires with minimal tread depth for snow and light all terrain usage. The front seats could use some additional padding for the rump.
