2002 Ford Escape XLS Value 4WD 4dr SUV (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

The car has performed better than
expected in all areas, especially in
fuel efficiency. I get about 26 mpg.
Engine performs well and is smooth for
4 cylinder. I can go over 400 miles on
a full tank of gas. Plenty of power to
get up exteneded hill climbs and
performes well on winding roads.
Turning radius is excellent, an
unexpected surprise.

Best Features

5 spd manual trans. One of the best looking SUVs on the road, doesn't look like a jacked up station wagon nor a mini van. Ability to park and manuever like a car in tight spaces is excellent. Shifting is smooth. The AC quickly cools the interior on hot days.

Worst Features

No center console avail due to hand brake configuration and lacks split folding rear seats. Other models have these features. Seats could be more comfortable, a little on the firm side. Wind noise was noticable on the highway. 5-speed model for higher end models and a larger gas tank.
