2002 Ford Escape XLS Value 2WD 4dr SUV (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

Review

I have found this SUV to be all you
could want or expect for the size and
money. Handles great, good power,
comfortable, clean profile. Very good
A/c and heat, CD player and radio (
sound sys leaves something to be
desired with windows down). Not a
luxery SUV, but has all you need and
more. CONs: cheap tires (Generals,
which I had found to be good prior to
this?. As stated, for the money, a very
fine SUV.

Best Features

Handles great, AC/Heat, CD player, visibility, powerful V6 and good gas milage.

Worst Features

Better grade tires. Better sound system. When windows down, a lot of road noise.

2002 Ford Escape XLT Choice 4WD 4dr SUV (3.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

Fun to drive. Great clearance, speed,
maneuverability.

Best Features

Clearance with four wheel drive. Higher than a sedan.

Worst Features

Details. Comparable models made by Japanese manufacturers have rubber bumpers (inside doors) that our bolted or screwed into the sheet metal. The Escape rubber bumpers just push in and EASILY pop out and get lost.

Vehicle

2002 Ford Escape XLT Choice 4WD 4dr SUV (3.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

This was my first truely "American"
purchase (my previous car was a '00
Honda CRV), and other than a warranty-
covered fuel sensor issue which caused
the truck to stall at 40 mph, it has
been a reliable, well-crafted, compact
SUV. It has more than enough power
and it's fairly comfortable for my
6'4" frame. The 16-17 city-MPG took a
little getting used to, but the '05
Hybrid is right around the corner!

Best Features

Power, appearance, stereo (standard, 6 In-Dash), ergonomics, manual 4x4 (in addition to auto AWD), rear lift- glass, visability.

Worst Features

Bun-warmers please!(brrrrr!), MP-3 player capabilities, steering wheel audio controls, climate control with air re-circulate button, auto-close sunroof and driver window.

2002 Ford Escape XLT Choice 4WD 4dr SUV (3.0L 6cyl 4A)

Review

Great vehicle, fun to drive. I've
owned over 30 automobiles including 4
SUV's, but this car is the best value
(looks, performance, quality. price)
for the investment.

Best Features

V-6, sunroof and head/leg room.

Worst Features

Outside temperature gauge, more frills.
