Good car, don't buy for mileage!

2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid SEL 4dr Wagon (2.0L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

How about correcting your review regarding the stellar mileage?
Ford - how about changing the deceptive commercials representing that mileage is better than a Prius V?
This is
nice little car, but it is abundantly clear that its real world mileage is in the 36 to 37 mph range, while the Prius V can expected to yield 42 - 44 with similar driving.
Really disappointing is highway mileage if you expect to drive more than 63 mph. Over 3000 miles of very moderate driving and often attempting to manage the EV mode, we can't exceed 36 for any reasonable distance.
Recent 300+ mile trip at 70-75 maxed out at 36 mph.
Could be driving a non-hybrid.
High 40's for Prius V at speed???

Best Features

Seating and driving position, driveability.

Worst Features

Mileage! Ability to adjust recline of back seat. There is surprisingly little room in the back when the rear seat is up. May want to compare it to a regular Prius rather than a V if you plan to use it as a 4 seater and think that you will have much more room in the cargoe compartment. Honest advertising - possibly some compensation for early buyers who have relied on the mileage claims.

Purchased a C-max Hybrid 11-26-12 and after 4 tanks of fuel receiving far less than the 47 MPG. I used the Edmunds review while doing the research and am very disappointed in actual fuel usage. Getting 36 - 38 mpg in both city & highway driving. Sorry I didn't buy the Prius V.

The mileage is EPA (Government)...not Ford. So...write your Federal Representative if you feel their testing procedures are not accurate. I don't yet own a C-Max but took a 10 mile test drive with 88 mpg. Try accelerating more gradually for better mileage. Paul in Napa
