2023 Ford Bronco Big Bend 2dr SUV 4WD w/Advanced 4x4 (2.3L 4cyl Turbo 7M)

I had my Bronco since the day they brought it back. I have over 85,000 miles on it and never have had an issue yet. It’s a great family SUV and also great at being off road. I live in Minnesota and It is the best SUV in winter driving. I have had many other vehicles through my life but The Ford Bronco I have to say it the best one yet.

24k Miles Year 1

2023 Ford Bronco Badlands 4dr SUV 4WD (2.3L 4cyl Turbo 7M)

2023 Badlands 4D, 2.7L. 24k miles year one and not a single issue. Lots of trails, snow and mud. Lots of highway miles of course. If was an adjustment going from a F150 Super Crew to this - but a hitch carrier makes a huge difference. I've added a lift, soft top liner, winch (use it a lot around the farm as well) and several other mods. It's fun / easy to work on and I honestly don't have any complaints other than the Goodyears not giving much grip in mud or snow. The technology in this thing is crazy. Especially the sway bar disconnect (vs old school, crawling under the front end).

Area 51 color--Out of this World On/Off Roader!

Waited two years on a waiting list and ended up with Badlands and 2.7 with Soft Top. Original Order was for a First Edition and when we were told the Top would not be molded in color due to manufacturing issues, we changed from the limited production First Edition to the combination above. Was completely blown away at the ride and handling versus our Wrangler. Still love the Wrangler, but the Bronco is so much more refined from both on and off road use. The openness of the roll cage versus the Wrangler was a great surprise as well. Had the typical first year production gremlins that i've experienced in Asian, German, and American vehicles we were early adopters of; comes with the territory and Ford stayed in touch and took care of them as they came up. Never driven anything outside of a military HUMMV that was this confidence inspiring off road, in the water, launching jet skis with no boat ramp, i mean at the turn of a dial all the off road modes did what was asked of them. Interior Noise shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who's owned a soft top Jeep. Interior material and drains holes for rinsing the sand and mud out were great. I would love it if Ford made a Solid one piece body like the Land Rover. No regrets at all. *Edmunds doesn't have Badlands with the 2.7 4door, but that was our combination so maybe they can fix that.

Broke down at 20 miles

Just bought a ‘24 bronco and it broke down at 20 miles. It had 8 miles on it when I got it and I drove it a whole 12. It’s a cheap novelty imo. It overheated coolant was sprayed all under the hood and it had smoke pouring out of the engine. Worst decision ever.

2023 Ford Bronco Black Diamond 4dr SUV 4WD w/Advanced 4x4 (2.3L 4cyl Turbo 7M)

To clarify first two things, ours is the 2.7L 6 cylinder Black Diamond. Edmunds did not have the proper configuration in their drop down menu. I have owned many 4x4 vehicles throughout my life and actually use my 4x4s as they were intended but without heavy trail use, I am also a retired professional mechanic. We special ordered our 2023 Bronco new and have been driving it for just over a year. In that time we have experienced multiple and repeated electronic issues that have effected the infotainment system, engine management system and vehicle management system. These issues crop up roughly 50% of the time we drive the Bronco. We have brought our Bronco back to our dealer twice and each time we have been told that there is "Nothing we can do because it is a known issue to Ford" and that "Ford is working on an over the air update fix that will be released sometime Q4 2024". I have contacted Ford corporate directly about this issue three times and after thoroughly explaining what is happening each time Ford breaks contact and I never hear from them again. Issues started roughly 4 months after purchase and BEFORE our vehicle ever even saw a dirt road. Our infotainment system (touchscreen in the middle of the dash) would freeze and would eventually go completely black only coming back on after the Bronco was turned off for 10-15 minutes. Annoying but not the end of the world. After experiencing the infotainment system malfunctioning 5-10 times the more concerning issues with the engine management and vehicle management system started appearing. At this time we started getting messages on the gauge cluster that there was a "parking brake failure". These messages would ONLY appear when the infotainment system was malfunctioning and would appear both while parked and while driving. At the same time we started getting oil temperature warnings. Checking the oil temp gauge would show that the temp was at redline. This happened both while driving at normal highway speeds with the Bronco unloaded and once while towing an empty 5x8 flatbed trailer. Again this only happens while the infotainment system is malfunctioning. Our next set of issues happen 90% of the time we drive the vehicle even when the infotainment system is functioning properly. We do not experience a consistent or smooth idle. While the digital readout shows steady idle it does not read to the 10th (15xx) RPM. After attaching my scan tool I have found that the idle surges by roughly 50 RPM every 10-15 seconds. At steady highway speeds, constant 60-70 MPH, you can feel a slight surge in the power of the vehicle. I have not measured the RPMs at speed but it feels like there is also a 25-50 RPM variation when held steady at speed. For those times that our Bronco is functioning properly it is the most capable, comfortable and maneuverable (for its size) 4x4 I have ever owned. When it is functioning properly it makes for a very good daily driver that is just as comfortable getting groceries as it is taking a fire road in the mountains. Sadly though the issues outweigh the positive aspects of the vehicle. Our trust in our Bronco as well as Ford as a manufacturer have been eroded. After speaking with former colleagues, current mechanics and fellow enthusiasts it seems that these issues we have been experiencing are being experienced by many other Bronco owners. If I were to do it all over again I absolutely not purchase a Bronco.
