Electric Cars With the Longest Range

According to Edmunds' real-world testing and its EPA estimates, the Cadillac Escalade IQ luxury SUV is the electric vehicle with the longest range. While software refinement and aerodynamic tweaks aid its efficiency, it's the Escalade IQ's massive 205-kWh battery pack that allows this seven-seater to exceed 550 miles of range on a single charge, a truly impressive figure that lands it at the top of Edmunds' EV range leaderboard. This list includes the 10 longest-range EVs we've tested, noting how far they traveled and the base price for the least expensive configuration that gets you that range.

But what makes our list of the longest-range EVs different from others? We conduct our own real-world EV range testing on a standardized route to provide more accurate range numbers for electric vehicles than the estimates provided by the EPA.

The EPA, or Environmental Protection Agency, is the government entity that certifies the range of all electric vehicles in the U.S. The EPA's estimates are intended to give shoppers a convenient way to compare how far each EV can travel when fully charged. However, a variety of real-world factors can cause discrepancies between the EPA's published figures and the range that EV owners observe on the road. As an example, in our real-world testing, we found the Mercedes EQS outdid its EPA estimates. On the flip side, every Tesla we've evaluated has failed to hit its EPA range estimate in the real-world Edmunds EV Range Test.

How we determined the longest-range electric vehicles

• Edmunds tests each electric vehicle on a set route in Southern California. After charging the EV to 100%, we begin our route, which consists of approximately 60% city roads and 40% highway driving. We drive on this route, and repeat as needed, until only 10 miles of range remain as indicated by the EV's onboard computer. Then we add those last 10 miles to the total distance driven to determine the electric vehicle's real-world range results.
• The Edmunds EV Range Test is conducted under standardized conditions. The vehicle's windows are up, the climate control is set to 72 degrees, and the vehicle is operating in its default drive mode.

10. Rivian R1T

There's a lot to like about Rivian's R1T pickup: Clever design, sharp looks, and a quiet, comfortable cabin are just a few of its strengths. The R1T is also a nimble handler, and despite being a midsize truck, its cabin feels roomier than those of some conventional full-size pickups. But when we took a 2023 R1T Performance Dual Motor with 21-inch wheels around our test route, it fell a bit short of its EPA-estimated range of 410 miles. 

The 2026 Dual Max with 22-inch wheels now holds the top spot for range in the R1T lineup, with an EPA estimate of 420 miles. We've yet to determine whether or not the latest iteration can actually reach that figure out in the real world.

9. GMC Hummer EV

GMC estimates that the latest Hummer EV pickup is capable of traveling up to 367 miles in 3X guise with the optional 212-kWh battery pack, but we managed to get an impressive 390 miles of range from a 2023 version of the big electric off-road truck. 

Aside from its solid range and imposing stature, the electric Hummer impresses with its formidable rock-crawling chops and rapid acceleration. For 2026, 3X models get a power bump that pushes output to 1,160 horsepower, which in turn enables this electric pickup to reach 60 mph in a claimed 2.8 seconds. GMC has also upped the ante by improving its infotainment, driver assistance and charging technologies, but the Hummer's massive size ultimately limits its efficiency as well as its appeal.

8. Lucid Gravity

Lucid's new electric SUV combines impressive performance with long range, but we were surprised to find that the two-row, all-season tire-clad 2026 Gravity Grand Touring only managed 400 miles of range in our real-world testing, falling well short of its EPA estimate of 450 miles.

Thankfully there's still plenty to like about this electric sport-utility vehicle. It's one of the quickest and best-handling electric SUVs we've ever tested, yet it also provides minivan levels of interior space with comfortable seating for up to seven real-sized adults, or lots of cargo with the seats folded. We also expect Lucid to further refine and improve the Gravity's capabilities with a steady stream of updates in the coming years.

7. Audi A6 Sportback E-tron

Boasting a smooth ride and a quiet cabin alongside rapid fast-charging capability, the Audi A6 Sportback E-tron also delivers impressive range, as it reached 402 miles in the Edmunds EV Range Test, exceeding its EPA estimate of 392 miles in the process. And with a maximum charging rate of 270 kW, you'll be back on the road quicker than most EVs. We also like the versatility offered by its hatchback-style rear liftgate, which allows for SUV-like cargo hauling capability yet retains the sleek look of a sport sedan.

6. Mercedes-Benz CLA

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ has an EPA mileage estimate of 374 miles on a charge, but we saw no less than 434 miles of range in the Edmunds EV Range Test. 

The electric version of the CLA faces some stiff competition from the likes of BMW and Tesla, but Mercedes-Benz made sure to outfit this electric sedan with plenty of tech and creature comforts. Inside, the slick Superscreen display combines two screens that cover roughly 2 feet of the dashboard. The system utilizes Mercedes' latest operating system, which now incorporates AI assistance from ChatGPT and Google Gemini. The electric CLA also gets bonus points for avoiding the blob-like styling of other Mercedes-Benz EVs like the EQE and EQS. Note that Mercedes-Benz markets both the gas-powered and electric versions of this sedan under the same name, with the electric models denoted by "with EQ Technology."

5. Mercedes-Benz EQS

The Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan may have arrived late to the EV party, but this one still managed to make a big impression. As the all-electric counterpart to the stately gas-powered S-Class, the EQS is a sizable luxury sedan. During our real-world Edmunds EV Range Test, the large-and-in-charge 2025 EQS 450+ delivered a remarkable 464 miles of range, easily surpassing its EPA estimate of 390 miles. The more powerful dual-motor all-wheel-drive EQS 580 4Matic also beat its EPA estimate of 340 miles back in 2022, traveling 381 miles on a single charge in our testing. The EPA range estimate for the EQS 450+ remains unchanged for 2026.

4. Lucid Air

The Lucid Air luxury electric sedan impresses with not only its range capability but also its supercar-like performance, especially if you spring for the hot-rodded Air Sapphire. Although the Air's outward appearance hasn't changed much since its 2022 debut, Lucid has since improved the car by lowering the price, adding features, updating the tech and increasing performance. We've also noticed that build quality has improved as production has increased.

The best we've seen from an Air is 505 miles with the 2022 Air Dream Range model, which is no longer offered but had an estimated range of 520 miles. EPA rankings currently have the Air Grand Touring model at the top of the heap with an estimated range of 512 miles. Our test of an older Grand Touring version yielded 438 miles of range, compared to its estimate of 516 miles at that time. The price here is for the Grand Touring model, which is the current Air that comes closest to the Dream Range's, er, range.

3. GMC Sierra EV

GMC estimates that the Sierra EV Denali Max Range is capable of traveling 478 miles on a charge, but we managed to eke out 507 miles with a 2025 model. Although it's mechanically similar to the Chevrolet Silverado EV, the GMC takes a more upscale approach when it comes to aesthetics and creature comforts, and that's especially true of the luxury-focused Denali trim. 

While the lack of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support is irksome, the Sierra EV's posh interior and clever midgate design make this electric truck easy to live with both on and off the job. The Denali Max Range's dual-motor configuration offers plenty of straight-line performance as well; in our testing, the Sierra EV Denali reached 60 mph from rest in just 4.3 seconds.

2. Chevrolet Silverado EV

Chevy's all-electric pickup offers up to 760 horsepower and a max EPA range estimate of 493 miles, but we managed to go 539 miles in a 2025 Silverado EV in Work Truck trim with the Max Range battery. The WT is able to go farther on a charge than the other Max Range Silverado EVs because the fleet-oriented trim has fewer features and is therefore lighter than the fancier models. The extra weight results in a 478-mile range estimate like the longest-range Sierra EV.

In addition to its generous power and range, the Silverado EV comes loaded with tech and driver assistance features. Most models come with the innovative midgate bed shared with the Sierra EV. For 2026, Chevy added a Trail Boss trim that's equipped with a high-clearance suspension and other off-road-oriented upgrades.

1. Cadillac Escalade IQ

The Escalade IQ SUV not only offers an opulent interior, solid towing capability, and impressive acceleration for a vehicle its size, it's also our current top performer in EV driving range. Cadillac estimates that this big SUV can travel 460 miles on a charge, but we beat that figure by a substantial margin in our testing with a 2025 model. 

The Escalade IQ's large size is actually a key advantage here, as its massive footprint enabled Cadillac to outfit the luxury EV with a huge 205-kWh battery pack that plays a crucial role in delivering these unprecedented range figures. It also helps that the SUV's shape is more aerodynamic than those of the Sierra EV and Silverado EV that use the same battery.

Thankfully, Caddy also equipped the Escalade IQ with a high-voltage electric architecture that's capable of 800-volt DC fast charging, which the automaker says can provide up to 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes. Beyond its remarkable range, the Escalade IQ's dual-motor powertrain delivers a whopping 750 horsepower, which is enough grunt to propel the seven-seater to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds.

Range is only going to get better

The great news about our list of electric cars with the longest range is that it's constantly updating — and improving. As new electric models continue to be released, Edmunds will carry on conducting real-world testing to challenge the advertised EPA estimates and provide more accurate range data.

EVs are also equipped with larger battery packs today that increase performance and extend range. It wasn't that long ago that the Nissan Leaf was the best-selling EV ever, and hundreds of thousands of buyers found its 151 miles of range acceptable. Now an EV isn't considered to be competitive unless it has range closer to 300 miles.
