i am a woman, about 5'2" tall, and this is my only vehicle. Got it at a really good price; it sat on a lot for more than two year during the recession, so we paid only $33 for a car with a sticker of more than $44. It has only one flaw, the ride. Otherwise, I love it. It is a true pleasure to drive and handle. It's high enough to see everything on the road, big and strong enough to feel safe in crashes. As a pint-sizes female i can adjust the seat for perfect comfort and vision and it feels as though made for me - luxurious and comfortable too. With heated seats, power windows, power mirrors, what's not to like inside. It's driven most often in shorter mileage suburban areas. It's used more like an SUV, usually carrying the dog, a male German Shepherd in the crew area which we made a foam bed for, and in the truck bed, it carries not much more than a large load of groceries, etc. from Costco, though it has brought home a large load of bricks on occasion. I make a point to get freeway driving in on a regular basis to stretch it out. It's made a couple of long trips, from California to Oregon and back, from California to Montana and back and from California to Brainerd and Minneapolis and Pelican Rapids, MN and back. Max mileage on the road is usually 20-22 mpg, occasionally more; around town varies between 16-18.
Total road Mileage is just past 45,000. So far nothing has gone wrong. The only money spent on it has been oil changes and filters. But I must mention the ride. It definitely rides like a big truck. Translation: the ride is pretty awful and beats the heck out of my aging back - big time. I am looking at retrofitting a Carli system to improve the ride; otherwise I might have to give it up but only because of the ride!
My truck has experienced the "Death Wobble" at least a dozen times. The dealer will not fix the problem even though there is a technical service bulletin# 22-005-06. I had the problem fixed by a non dealer mechanic but it will cost $3000 to have the front steering and axle rebuilt. Parts inclued: 2009 Steering Upgrade Kit $400 plus labor, Ball Joints $600 plus labor, Steering Stabilizer $200 plus labor, new needle bearing in the steering box $200 plus labor, and a 4 wheel steering alignment $100. Also, make sure you have good E rated tires with the correct air pressure for the tire size. The problem is more common on 4x4 trucks with a diesel engine due to the weight of the engine.
I have an 2007.5, 6.7 Commins w/6 speed auto. I use it to mainly to pull my boat. I live in the NW and do mainly mixed driving. It has only 26K miles on it as its is not my primary vehical. This is a towing machine. At times I almost forget I have 8,000 lbs. behind me. I know some 3/4 tons can tow that. My last truck was a gas 3/4 ton and was rated for that much. It was working way to hard. Gas milage is great and will get better with age. In mixed driving about 13. Get it on the Freeway about 20 mpg's @ 65 running on 35's.
It tows very well. Even my buddy who has both a a 5.9 and a 6.7 Cummins(07 and 10). Loves the 6.7. He pulls a 35' 5th wheel with it. Both trucks can do it but the 6.7 is better at it. He said his 5.9 in the summer would DE-fuel to keep the temp down on the EGT's. But that was pulling up a hill in 95* heat.
I perfer the seats to be a little softer. I wasnt a big fan of the layout of the controls. I bought this Dodge for the Cummins engine. Like any new engines and new truck you have to work out the bugs. So for the last 1.5 years I have not had any issues with it.
This next issue is a big one.
Dodge uses a press-in bearing for for the front knuckles on its truck. They cannot be serviced. They only last about 80k or there about before they need to be replaced. To replace them each one is about 500.00.
My buddy(mentioned above) has replaced both on his 07 and has 126k on it. Prior to replacing the second one. He installed a free-wheeling hub kit. He is getting another 2-3mpg's.
I bought the new Dodge 6.7 when it came out, What a mistake! I have had nothing but trouble with the emmisions have had the truck in the shop 5 times for the PDF filter stopping up. I don't think that the regenaration system is working and have brought that to dodges attention but they insist it is working. Engine light has been on 90% of the time I have owned this truck. Bring back the 5.9 please. My brother has a 2007 with the 5.9 and has had NO PROBLEMS. The 6.7 has been a sore in my side since aI bought it the best thiong on the engine of this truck is the jake brake system and the 6 speed transmission. Take that and bring back the 5.9 and you will have something. 6.7 IS A LEMON!

Bring back the 5.9 with the jake brake and do away with the PDF system and maybe the 6.7 would be worth owning. The regenaration system on the 6.7 stinks.
Bought truck with 20k on it. 2 years later have 160,000. Change oil regularly. 1 trans flush. Only been in shop twice for a total of 200 dollars. I drive all over the state of Texas to job sites in the middle of nowhere spend all day in 4wd at job sites and then get back on road for another long trip. I have had them all. Strokes, Maxes, all of them and the 5.9 is by far the best ever. Have the auto trans and have had absolutely no problems with it. If you are looking for a diesel HD don't even think twice about a Dodge Cummins. Just buy it. They will solve the emission problems. The Cummins is the simplest design and the toughest and the most reliable, etc, etc..

none. leave it alone. Bring back the 5.9 take the emissions crap off.
