2001 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500 4dr Quad Cab ST 4WD SB (5.9L 8cyl 5M)

Bought the vehicle new with an "over-
build, under-use" mentality. I hauled
a cabover camper (1800 lbs) in the
back of the truck for approximately 3K
of the 58K miles I put on the truck.
Front brake caliper failure at ~45K
miles; serious damage to front rotor,
cost $1K to repair. Transmission
failure at 58K miles, cost $32K to
repair. The CTD is bullet-proof, no
doubt, but the Dodge components
matched to it are of poor quality and
reliability. Bad experience with
dealership repair center as well.
Lost my booty on this vehicle --
Daimler/Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge and I
will part ways for the rest of my
natural life . . .

Best Features

Powerful Cummins Turbo-Diesel.

Worst Features

Dodge has a reliability problem with this truck and I don't see how they can deny it. They need to re-evaluate their engineering staff and make reliability top priority in their products.
