I have been a Ford owner but I could
not past up the savings when I
compared the features of this truck to
a Ford 4 door. Differance of $4,000.
The bed is a foot longer, larger
wheels standard and when I took it to
the mountains (live in Colorado)it
handled like a sports car. Dodge does
not have the upper body lean that Ford
trucks have. It sits on the road with
no sway on tight curves. Workmanships
is excellent after 12,000 miles no
problems or need to return to the
dealer. Interior storage and amenities
The first thing you notice is the
excellent exterior design. No other
truck comes close. The interior is
spacious and the gauges are easy on the
eyes no matter what time of day. The
seats are very comfortable. The truck
handles well on the highway.
exterior looks - and those comfortable
gas mileage is poor, no sun roof
option, headlights should have a light
sensor and offer side impact airbags.
Functional and fun to drive. Not
really a Heavy-Hauler but handles
1200lbs. of camper without a whimper
and only a slight loss in fuel economy
Roomy Regular cab with pleanty of
behind seat storage for suitcases etc.
Easily read guages and simplicity of
controls allow concentration on
driving rather than requiring a back-
seater to run the electronics.
A bit more power would be nice but the
optional V-8 offered little
enhancement at a significant loss in
Ram 1500 4x4 loaded SLT 4.7L, 4-speed
auto. 3.90:1 limited slip differential.
The new brakes, frame, suspension are
very good. No rattles, squeeks, etc.
The trucks rides and handles very good,
you might think your in a car.
The truck has towed my #6,000
car/trailer with out any problems,but
the transmission dosen't like being in
over-drive when towing a heavy load.
The body, suspension, brakes, stiff
frame, and all the storage under the
rear seats, center console/seat, flat
The 4.7L only gets about 14 MPG and
could use more power for a big truck
like this. For a 4-door truck, the cab
is smaller than the big Ford.
My 2002 Dodge P/U has 10k mile on it
now and I have had it for about 9
months. I have no complaints about the
vehicle at all. It is fun to drive,
gets reasonable fuel economy (3.7L)
averages 18.0 mpg. Clutching/shifting
is easy and precise.
Probably the biggest item of note is
the excellent braking - very nice. The
oil is easy to change and overall I
just like it.
